I really did think the Arizona State Sun Devils would give the UCLA Bruins more trouble than the Arizona Wildcats. It looks like neither of those squads did much of anything against the Bruins. The Bruins are making a case for themselves nabbing a coveted #1 seed in March Madness by spanking the Sun Devils by 33 points and the Wildcats by 22. What’s really remarkable to witness is how up-tempo the Bruins are......

With a major project concluded, I'm back to regular writing. Hockey is back, too. You can watch a free game downtown tonight. Angels 10, Devil Rays 7 - The last time the Halos played small ball this well, they won a World Series. They could be headed back, with their magic number down to five. The Angels piled up double digits against the Devils without a home run on Monday, the 11th time they've reached......

Despite the Los Angeles Dodgers' 7-2 loss Wednesday night in Colorado, no team in Major League Baseball can boast more wins (10) than the Blue Crew heading into Thursday's action. Led by an airtight bullpen, the Dodger pitching staff (2nd best ERA in the National League) has driven much of the team's early season success. This, of course, is a horrible segue (in fact no segue at all) to the subject of Part 4......

Good morning LAist readers, are you already taking a break from working? Sounds good to us! Here is what you missed over the Holiday weekend. Enjoy! News & Community A look into Metro's internal newsletter. We read the weeklies so you don't have to. What do you think of the NoHo Arts District new crosswalks? We could not be more impressed with all the restaurants going out of their way to create a veggie burger from scratch or at least deck the hell out of store-bought ones. From Stanley's in Sherman Oaks to Tiny's K.O. bar in Hollywood, LA is embracing the veggie burger. But who does it best? On that list is Lucky Devils at 6613 Hollywood Blvd., near Whitley: A delicious blend of 26 ingredients, sautéed portobello......

In honor of SXSW, let today's 4:20 video serve as a warning about the dark side of rock and/or roll. There's shocking and dangerous new musical trend that's sweeping today's youth. The kids are calling it "emo"... but is emo too emotional for your teen????!!!!!! What you might think of as another harmless indie rock subculture with a penchant for maudlin lyrics and plaintive singing, is in actuality a dangerous new lifestyle complete with its......

5 Reasons You Will LOVE the Bruins This Season 1. Third Time’s the Charm - Ben Howland is in his third season and that can only mean good things for the Bruins. Let’s check the history… He won only 16 games at Northern Arizona his first two seasons combined but then in his third season, he led the Lumberjacks to 21 victories and the Big Sky regular-season championship. In his first two seasons at......

Where was this LAST week?!?! We've got to hand it to the Bruins. When Coach Dorell said that his team would bounce back from their beatdown against Arizona last week, he wasn’t kidding. Another impressive offensive performance produced another home victory for the UCLA Bruins, 45 - 35 over the Arizona State Sun Devils. FIRST PLAY FROM SCRIMMAGE… Drew Olson to Joe Cowan, 91 yards, touchdown. Bam! One play, one touchdown. This was the......

USC survived their toughest test of the season, and burst past Oregon 45-13 after playing a lousy first half. USC is clearly the most talented team in the country, but if they want to avoid these kinds of mini-scares, then the Trojans need to make a few minor changes. USC isn't getting LenDale White involved enough in the offense, and instead is over-using Reggie Bush. When Oregon jumped ahead early thanks to two turnovers,......

UCLA's Tournament hopes suffered a bit of a setback yesterday, as they were stunned in a 79-72 loss to Oregon State. The loss suddenly has Bruins fans freaked out that they won't be dancing when the NCAA Tournament Selection Committe draws up its brackets on Sunday. But fear not, Bruins fans. LAist thinks you're in anyways. Somehow the Pac-10 managed to produce the 2nd-best RPI of any conference in the country this year, so......
