Tonight, as always, local multi-instrumentalist/producer extraordinaire Jon Brion (LAist Interview, #2, Review) will be jamming with friends at the Largo at the Coronet. Anaheim-based ska-infused pop outfit No Doubt are poised to headline the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater twice with Grammy-nominated pop punk outfit Paramore and Swedish new wave rockers the Sounds in tow. And, lastly, local rapper Busdriver (LAist Review, #2) will be performing at the Echoplex with Deerhoof (LAist Review). But we strongly suggest heading over to the Troubadour to catch NY-based indie rockers Stellastarr. LAist favorites, Michigan's own Mason Proper and New Hampshire's own Wild Light (LAist Review) are slated to kick things off.

As Wilco prepares to unveil its seventh studio album, the soon to be released "Wilco, (The Album)," the band is barnstorming across the U.S. and world. Earlier this week, I spoke with Wilco's guitar wizard and Los Angeles native Nels Cline from the road, in Oklahoma City. Nels, one of the newest members of the group, splits his time between riffing with Wilco and his own avant-garde jazz band, the Nels Cline trio. We talked about his two musical worlds, his thoughts on Wilco before he joined the band and the bodily harm he does to himself on stage.

Tonight there are far too many shows to chose from. We've got the second and final night of pop songstress Alanis Morissette at the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown. Nashville-based piano man Ben Folds is headlining the Wiltern. Jon Brion & Friends will be jamming at the Largo at the Coronet. SF-based noise rockers Deerhoof are slated to wreak havoc on all eardrums at the Echoplex. Local indie rockers the Little Ones are stopping through the Echo. And, of course, Sean Carlson (LAist Interview) of the Fuck Yeah Fest is up to no good again. This time around he's got Sweden's own the (International) Noise Conspiracy playing the tiny stage at the Eagle Rock Arts Center. If you aren't planning on a sweaty, good time, then we strongly suggest you check into Spaceland. Berklee College of Music alums Apollo Sunshine (LAist Interview) will be performing gleaming tunes from 2008's Shall Noise Upon with Athens-based rockers Dead Confederate.

There are far too many shows to tend to tonight. First and foremost, experimental musician/producer extraordinaire David Byrne and Brian Eno will be performing together at the Greek Theatre in support of their first collaboration in nearly 30 years, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. LA locals No Age are slated to tear your ear drums apart at the dingy confines of the Smell. But why see them tonight when you can see them in exciting makeshift venues like the LA River or the Downtown Public Library? Devon Williams, yet another great LA-based musician, will be stopping by Echo Park's egalitarian start-up Echo Curio. The rather palatial Wiltern will be hosting the return of Portland legends the Dandy Warhols. Oddly enough, Brooklyn-based noise rockers A Place To Bury Strangers are set to kick things in motion. Our only recommendation is to make sure you bring ear plugs! And lastly, speaking of noise, we've got Deerhoof at the Avalon with local favorites the Happy Hollows. But we heavily endorse plopping down at Spaceland to enjoy your Friday night. The Henry Clay People will be ringing in their latest effort, For Cheap Or For Free, with an impressive bill of bands, including two of our favorite LA acts: the Parson Red Heads and Le Switch. It'll surely be all things to all people.
