Galaxy defender Ante Jazic got things going early for the blue-and-gold against D.C. United, but unfortunately, it got them going in the wrong direction. Jazic fouled D.C. United midfielder Santino Quaranta in the penalty box as Quaranta was making a run towards the Galaxy goal. Referee Jair Marrufo did not hesitate to call the penalty which United forward Jaime Moreno then converted into a goal, all within the first 5 minutes of the game.......

LA Dodgers defeat LA Angels 6-2. It took a National League team to give Ervin Santana his first loss. Blake Dewitt led things off the scoring in the second inning with a questionable two-run homer. It looked like a fan had interfered with the ball, but the umpires ruled the ball a home run. Chan Ho Park got the start for the Dodgers and fortunately Tim Belcher was not in attendance. He had a......

Cubs 8, Dodgers 2 - There goes that winning streak. The Blew Crew committed three errors, but only allowed one unearned run. That left an average of one earned for each of the seven pitchers used by Los Angeles. Juan Pierre was responsible for one of the errors, but also picked up his 55th stolen base of the year. A's 6, Angels 2 - Garret Anderson has been en fuego. He extended his RBI streak......

Beckham had his first start with the Galaxy on Wednesday night. He also had his first yellow card, first assist, and first GOOOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL! Unfortunately, this announcer was a little lame. But at least you get to see Beckham bend it on a free kick. Becks played 63 minutes and wore the captain's armband until he sat and turned it over to former captain Landon Donovan. Yeah, that wasn't awkward. The Galaxy won this SuperLiga......

Cardinals 12, Dodgers 2 - At least the Dodgers took the first game from St. Louis. They were hammered in the rubber game, as Mark Hendrickson allowed eight runs on 11 hits in just 2 and 2/3 innings. Andre Ethier was the only Dodger holding up the offense, with a double, triple, and RBI. Angels 6, Twins 2 - The Angels shut down Minnesota in three straight games this weekend. Jared Weaver lasted 7.1 innings......

Londonist are starting to think their city is getting just a little bit too expensive, when even Christian Slater can't afford to go out there. And there's no escaping, as local singer Lily Allen discovered when she was barred entry to the US. The British mapping agency caused further bad karma, by blocking a 3-D representation of London in Google Earth. But the smiles returned to Londonist's faces as they interviewed Baroness von Reichardt,......

Dodgers 5, Reds 4, 11 - After being shutout for 28 innings, the Dodgers scored early and late to snap their six game skid. Rafael Furcal yo-yo'd throughout the game. After scoring on a sac fly in the first, he stranded runners in scoring position three different times. He redeemed himself in the 11th, smacking the game-winning home run. Takashi Saito got the save. DC United 1, Galaxy 0 - In the humid rain of......

Reds 1, Dodgers 0 - Life is wacky in Dodgertown. The pitching staff has been riddled with injuries, but held Cincinnati to one run. This was just days after shutting down Barry Bonds, who has smashed three homers and set the career record since departing LA. Meanwhile, the offense has a catcher hitting almost .300 but they've been shutout in three straight games. They actually haven't scored in 28 innings, making the Angel's post All-Star......

D.C. United 2, Chivas USA 1 - The MLS gets no respect. ESPN and SI.com lump it in with their general soccer coverage. Yahoo! Sports has them listed just below the WNBA. They might not party like their Euro counterparts, but LAist.com is willing to give Chivas USA top billing tonight. So here it goes ... after a scoreless first half, winless D.C. United found the net twice (the second on a penalty kick) and......

The Los Angeles Galaxy pulled off a coup last week by acquiring Landon Donovan from Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. This is a superstar signing of epic proportions. Donovan coming to the Galaxy is akin to the Lakers signing Shaq or the Angels signing Vlad Guerrero. Donovan might the best American soccer player, having led Team USA to the quarterfinals of the 2002 World Cup, and single-handedly led the San Jose Earthquakes to two MLS......

Who cares about the Olympic Games or the Dodgers pennant race, when we can talk LA Galaxy soccer! Well, that has to be the talk of LA today, as the Galaxy made a controversial move to fire head coach Sigi Schmid. Guess being in first place wasn't good enough. We here at LAist cannot fathom why the Galaxy would ever fire Schmid. Sure the Galaxy were on a five game winless streak, and lost......
