Apparently this city really loves its awards shows and the sinister underbelly of The Cos. LAist had one of its biggest weeks yet and for that we say, "thank you." Hopefully, next week, some former child actor will hijack an orange line bus and we can continue appealing to the masses.

We'd like to think that all is happy in Los Angeles. We're having a beautiful, mostly dry winter. We've got a new mayor who's charming, handsome, and seems to be excited about his job. Sure, we might complain about traffic tickets, rude waiters, disloyal football players, and dumb questions for David Foster Wallace, but we all kinda love this place. Right. Right?

Last night, while the rest of you were resting up for Hollywood's onanistic ode to itself (aka The Golden Globes), LAist was getting some culture in the form of David Foster Wallace, who read from his new collection of essays, Consider the Lobster at the Hammer Museum in Westwood.

UCLA's Hammer Museum hosts a reading by David Foster Wallace—author of Infinite Jest, Brief Interviews With Hideous Men and Oblivion—at 7:00 PM.

Aside from the Vice Presidential debates, there are some events going on around town. If you decide to go out rather than remain home, glued to the TV as Cheney and Edwards duke it out, you can always catch the highlights on the radio while on your way to one of these fine events.
