LA has always been a stronghold for weathermen. We've had Fritz, Dallas Raines, Johnny Mountain, Christopher Nance... even Garth Kemp has made a dent out here. Did we miss any? But lately we've noticed that there have been a few weather-women who have brought pleasant little smiles to our faces as they find new ways to tell us it's going to be sunny and mild here in LA. On the top of the list...

These are the last days of summer. At least that's what they say on the news and in the marketplace. But here in Southern California, it only gets hotter as the days grow shorter. (At least the pools won't close just yet). But -- Holy Dallas Raines -- early this morning, with temps stuck in the mid-70s, we've got thunder and lightning! Unfortunately, the electricity in the air has no bearing on California's energy supply,...

I generally despise the local newscasts. I’ll tolerate a traffic report in the morning if I have to drive to work, and I’ll tune into the weather forecast on Channel 7’s 11 pm news because I like to watch Dallas Raines’ crouching routine against the Doppler 7000+. (And he wears these superb suits – I swear, no one can pull off a double-breasted electric blue better.) But this week, in light of the Minnesota...

We trust that all Angelenos had a better Valentine's Day than Cleveland's 19 Action News weatherman, Jon Loufman. While the LA metro area saw clear blue skies, temps in the mid-70s, and no reports of fat, dancing naked men, it seems a blizzard was hardly the most blinding part of Loufman's live on-the-street report. This, of course, begs the question, WWDRD (What would Dallas Raines do?)...

With the number of students walking out of classes yesterday, stopping freeway traffic and actually getting motivated to protest anything, it was a busy news day here in LA. We thought that exciting visuals of kids marching and scuffling with police would surely lead off the 11 PM news last night on ABC-7.

We know that it was friggin cold last night, but what's up with the snap continuing today? It's been like four days of cold weather. Enough already. Though our East Coast brethren scoff and call us weather wimps, this is LA -- home of the Beach Boys and Baywatch. Hello...wasn't it 80 degrees last week? This weather, especially rain, is not good for Angelenos' perfectly coiffed hair -- and the cold, dry stuff is not good for our skin (says our dermatologist).

Channel 7 has a brand new toy. KABC debuted a high definition news helicoptor on Monday. It is the first in a series of moves that will eventually bring the entire newscast into Hi-Def.
