This past weekend, Vegas's own Sam Boyd Stadium was home to the 3rd annual Vegoose music festival which featured a few small-time bands you may have heard of, like Rage Against the Machine, Daft Punk, Muse, Iggy and the Stooges, LAist made the obligatory road trip out to Sin City to bring you some coverage on one of the more succsessful new music fests, (which, by the way, is brought to us by the same people who put on Bonnaroo.) The story of Justice is almost as awesome as the music which they create. Two former graphic designers from France start playing with electronic music production. Their efforts produce much illness, which creates a ruckus in the dance music scene. The fact that Monday night's show at the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood was completely sold out wasn't surprising at all; a show consisting of both The Rapture, an already established dance-punk band, and The Presets, an Australian electro duo slowly gaining exposure in the States, was designed for LA audiences; the night was a perfect balance of both old songs we've already danced to and new songs we'll continue dancing to.

Because you really can't get too much of a good thing, the good people of Goldenvoice announced last night that this year's hugely successful Coachella music and arts festival will grow to a three-day-and-night affair on the sprawling polo fields in Indio outside Palm Springs. The Miracle Mile concert promoters also announced that the weekend after Coachella they will throw a two-day country festival that will include stages for alt-country, bluegrass, and even storytelling....

Is anybody driving three hours to the desert for this? Two day passes ($167 + $23 in fees) and Saturday tickets ($86 + $15 in fees) are still available. Most of the rock bands have played LA clubs in the past few months. Otherwise you better really like DJs and house music……

The Flaming Lips At War with the Mystics (Warner Bros.) – As much as we loved The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots we're glad they're trying some new things on this one. While it's not as stylistically consistent as their other albums, there are enough quality songs to recommend it. Catch them live at the Hollywood Bowl on 7/23.
