A week of protests across the state of California began Monday as part of the California Teacher's Association (CTA) $1 million State of Emergency campaign. Thousands of teachers were expected to participate in sit-ins, teach-ins and protests over proposed budget cuts along with the threat of layoffs, larger classes and the elimination of myriad programs.

It's been a rumor for months but now it's confirmed, NBC is moving ahead with "Law & Order: Los Angeles" (aka "LOLA"?) - that makes 4 series concurrently running on television which seems like more original programming than The CW produces so why not get it over with and have a "Law & Order" network?

There was very little else for Londonist to be concerned with when the threat of a Tube strike became a very unpleasant reality. The inconvenience was extreme: there aren't many alternatives to the Tube in London despite the best efforts of the Londonist team to get everyone from A to B. Brighter news came in the form of the first ever female Yeoman Warder, or Beefeater as the position is more commonly known, and several smiles as well as lots of cash were raised by some plucky urban ironing. London is apparently full of lies and whales: one of these things is true. We leave that up to you to figure out.
