All over the city last night people dressed up and gathered to celebrate Halloween. Many flocked to the MUSE party held annually at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where creativity and ingenuity and the artistic were in full force in the form of costumes. Here is just a small sampling of the insanity.

The games are a mix of "world-class players, top college stars and disguised AVP pros" in costumes as if it were Halloween. There's nothing like it and after we visited last year, we had to make sure we shared what was seen this year, thanks to three Flickr users (Nataline/metaphora, Mark Hoffmann and David J. Sullivan).
Love it or leave it, you have to admit that the San Diego Comic Con brings out the ten year old kid in all of the attendees (including, this year, many entertainment types, who ran around the floor pleading, "I want it. I WANT IT.") Here are some pictures of life in and around last weekend's con, some great displays, awesome costumes, even a couple of panels. This year there were significantly fewer slave Leas, the female storm trooper was nowhere to be seen and there were a number of pirates and people wearing (inexplicably) their Ren Faire costumes. I guess the ten year old takes all forms!
Saturday night was hopping in Chinatown, from Hop Louie's to the Lindy Hop on the dance floor as the iconic neighborhood celebrated their 70th anniversary. A big band was on hand to provide the tunes, folks in 30s and 40s garb milled about, the shops were open, and the Central Plaza was abuzz with young and old alike celebrating Chinatown's history. To learn more about the area's features and stories (like why it's called "New" Chinatown!), check out LAist's Neighborhood Project: Chinatown.

Last Saturday at Dockweiler Beach was Lushness X, a volleyball tournament where uniforms and outfits are "highly encouraged." It's fair to say the tournament is a party, billed with rules that include make-out sessions (usually girl-on-girl), "corndogging" (pouring water on player and forcing them to roll in sand) and an occasional egging.

That would be cool. - Can’t do it. It’s overdone. - Yeah it didn’t feel original when I said it. - Of course I could just be a Microsoft Zune. - Being...
