The iconic bear created by Los Angeles artist Luke Chueh has been a busy beast appearing in exhibits, publications and toy shops around the world. In 2009 we spoke to Chueh about the piece he painted for the exhibit at Royal/T for Hello Kitty's 35th birthday. Lolitas, Bikinis and Toys: New Paintings by Natalia Fabia

       

Known for her fascination with hookers, wild life, and wild women, Natalia Fabia's current show at the Corey Helford Gallery show a glimpse of her softer side. Fabia celebrates the cute Kawaii in Japanese pop culture by painting her lolita friends surrounded by iconic toys and sweets. She shows these painting along side images of women in bikinis, lingerie, and nudes. The paintings, displayed under a giant toy-filled bubblegum-colored chandelier, reveal Fabia's exploration of the female form ranges from super cute to salacious, all painted with vibrant detail. more ›

Opening Tonight: LA Artist Lola's 'Ipsum Factum'

     

Tonight at the Corey Helford Gallery, Los Angeles artist Lola unveils her new collection of paintings. For "Ipsum Factum," Lola created metaphorical narratives that explore the relationships between humans and animals. In one painting a little girl sits with a paint brush touching up her swan boat with other insects and fuzzy creatures nearby. Another work shows a small girl leaning on a very large gray cat. more ›
