The man known as the "Mid-City Molester" was convicted on Friday of kidnapping and molestation. Daniel Merino, 42, was found guilty by a Los Angeles Superior Court jury of approaching four girls between the ages of eight and ten while they were on their way to school, reports the LA Independent. The girls were all alone when approached.

It was no dice today for Rianne Theriault-Odom, the woman who set an exotic dancer on fire outside a Tarzana bikini bar in 2009, who lost her appeal on her conviction, according to the Daily News. Theriault-Odom received a life sentence for dousing then-27-year-old Roberta Busby in gasoline and setting her on fire after an argument.
Judge Tosses Drug Conspiracy Conviction of Howard K. Stern
Anna Nicole Smith's onetime boyfriend and lawyer Howard K. Stern has had his drug conspiracy conviction thrown out by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert Perry, who says Stern "never had the intent to defraud when he used his name and others to protect Smith's privacy when he obtained prescriptions for her," according to the AP. Perry let one conviction stand, that of Smith's psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich, reducing it to a misdemeanor and sentencing her "to no more than one year of probation and a $100 fine for obtaining one Vicodin prescription under a false name."
Man Convicted in Movie Theater Meat Thermometer Stabbing
A man on trial for stabbing a fellow movie-goer has ended with a conviction. Landry Boullard was watching the film "Shutter Island" at a Cinemark Theater in Lancaster back in February when a woman he was with was repeatedly shushed by another patron. Boullard, the woman, and another man left the theatre, only to return to stab the shush-er. The weapon: A meat thermometer.

They befriended homeless men, gave them life insurance policies for two years, killed them by running over them, claimed their deaths as hit and runs and collected on the insurance. Nearly $3 million was collected between the two men they setup before getting caught. After the second death in 2005 is when authorities became suspicious -- similar incident, similar injuries.
