Some of the world's smartest, most creative and interesting people are getting together today up in Monterey for the TED conference. The 3-day, $4000+ coffee klatch is invite only (we're sure ours got lost in our spam folder). At that price you'd think it might be a hard sell, but lots of people think it's worth it: the first 500 seats for the 2007 conference are already gone.
Where the elite meet to greet
Futuristic Malls of Days Past
History often proves unkind to ideas and plans once touted as the wave of the future. Take much of Downtown LA, such as the elevated walkways and segregated vehicular/pedestrian zones.
Higher and Lower
Tonight at Spaceland, have a quiet evening enjoying the music of Alan Sparhawk (of Low), along with Evan (of Parlour/Marjorie Fair) and Dina Waxman (of Space Mtn). Doors open at 9:00 PM and tickets are $12.00.
Please Don't Go
Music and film are two events that this town does better than most, and tonight is full of them. The early '90s are back to visit tonight in the form of both types of media, so get out there and relive some memories or better yet, make some new ones.
Strange and Novel
It never ceases to amaze LAist that no matter how much goes on in this city, more things pop up every day. We hope that you're all taking advantage of the opportunities presented by living in such a vast and interesting city, such as those featured below.
