Major League Soccer action kicked off last night as the Seattle Sounders FC defeated the new kids on the block, Philadelphia Union, by a score of 2 - 0. It almost did not happen, but a last minute deal for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement between MLS and its Players Union averted an expected strike, clearing the way for yesterday's season opener in Seattle. Now it is L.A.'s turn.

Landon Donovan and Jovan Kirovski each scored a goal for the Galaxy en route to a 2 - 1 victory over New England Revolution, while Chivas USA continues to struggle and gets routed 4 - 0 at the Colorado Rapids.
The Galaxy pressured the New England Revolution defense from early on and quickly took control of the game at Gillette Stadium. The increasing pressure on the Revolution defense led to some errors in the back line and it wasn't long before the blue-and-gold got some quality shots on goal.
Familiar Problems Haunt Galaxy
The Galaxy battled back from an early deficit against the Colorado Rapids last night, but were unable to keep it together, losing by a score of 3 - 2 at the Home Depot Center.
