The man who was found naked under a child's bed in a Westminster home this weekend has been apprehended, reports the Pasadena Star-News. Edgar Antonio Lucha, 23, was "arrested Wednesday night at a Compton drug rehabilitation center," and "booked for investigation of burglary, indecent exposure and attempted lewd acts on a child." The homeowner had discovered the intruder hiding under his 10-year-old son's bed. Reports indicate Lucha allegedly "pulled on his pants and repeatedly apologized, saying he was on drugs." Separate Shootings Leave 2 Compton Children in Critical Condition

$10,000 rewards for tips leading to the arrest of suspects involved in two separate shootings that left a 10-year-old girl and an 18-month-old toddler earlier this month were approved by the L.A. County Board of Supervisors today. Erika Miranda, 10, was shot three times on March 2 when an unknown male suspect opened fired on a crowd playing basketball on the 1800 block of East San Luis Street. The toddler, Linsey Baquedano, was struck by a bullet on March 7th when standing with her mother in front of their apartment complex on the 800 block of 137th Street. The suspect pulled up in a car and shot a gun into a crowd. In both cases, different cars were used. Both victims are in critical but stable condition. more ›

A 40-year-old man was killed yesterday morning when a van struck and dragged him several feet in Compton, according to KTLA. Immediately after, the driver got out, checked what happened and got back into his vehicle, possibly a grey or silver 1990s Ford Aerostar van, fleeing the scene as witnesses and a surveillance camera saw what happened. Those witnesses also said the driver, described as an African American male, possibly 7-feet tall, was on his cellphone when he ran a red light at Compton Blvd. and Dwight Ave. The cyclist, said to be a father of five, was said to be crossing Compton on a green light. more ›

Power Outage Update: Close to 22,000 Without Service

Some 3,400 LADWP customers scattered throughout the city are currently without service, about half of the number earlier this afternoon. However, the number of Southern California Edison customers across the region without service has increased by around 8,000. The hardest hit areas include Lake Arrowhead (3,142), Orange (1,805), Huntington Beach (1,571), Baldwin Park (1,253), Altadena (1,125) and Compton (870). "SCE is continuing to prioritize repairs so that customers who have been without power the longest will have service restored first," the utility said in a statement. more ›

CHP Officer May Have Killed Husband After Domestic Dispute

Authorities are investigating what led up to a California Highway Patrol officer fatally shooting her husband last night at their home in Compton. The unnamed CHP officer has not been arrested or charged as of yet, according to abc7.com, and "Sheriff's officials say it will be up to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office to charge the officer in her husband's death." The officer was reportedly off-duty when the incident occurred, and authorities believe the shooting came following a domestic dispute between she and her spouse, 31-year-old Marcus Lavar Lemons. Lemons "was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot once in the chest." Early reports indicate the officer may have acted in self-defense. more ›

The Los Angeles Police Department's Chief Bill Bratton has announced that crime is down compared to this time last year. According to abc7.com, "The most dramatic drop was seen in murders involving gang members. Bratton said those homicides have dropped 26.6 percent. Overall, homicide is down 8.7 percent. The number of rapes committed saw a 14 percent drop, and overall violent crime is down nearly 5 percent."
