Kings Trade for Columbus' Jeff Carter, Part with Jack Johnson

You can smell the desperation even as the news was breaking on Twitter. The Kings traded defenseman Jack Johnson and a conditional first round pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets for center Jeff Carter. General Manager Dean Lombardi had to improve the league’s worst offense, and this essentially was a shot in the dark. more ›

Kings Power Play Win Comes with Some Controversy

Kings Power Play Win Comes with Some Controversy

That was as close to a walk-off in regulation for the Kings in their 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets at home. As the final seconds were ticking off ready to send the game to the inevitable overtime period, Drew Doughty got the fortunate bounce during a power-play and shot the puck past Columbus goaltender Curtis Sanford as the clock hit 0.3 remaining. more ›

It's Getting Ugly at STAPLES Center

It's Getting Ugly at STAPLES Center

In New Orleans the nation watched as the Saints performed an offensive clinic in the second half dispatching the Detroit Lions 45-28 in the wild card round of the NFL Playoffs. That offensive mojo obviously did not visit the STAPLES Center today with the Kings losing in regulation for the first time in the Darryl Sutter era 1-0 to the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets and the Clippers edged the Milwaukee Bucks 92-86. more ›

Kings Hang On To Break Five-Game Slide

A win is a win is a win. Never mind that the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets have lost the first three games of their road trip crescendoing in a Wagnerian loss 6-0 in Anaheim Friday night. Never mind that their star defenseman Mike Commodore has now been a healthy scratch in nine of his last ten games as he is being shopped around by the Jackets. Never mind that the Kings built a 4-0 lead in the second period only to see it almost slip away thanks to Rick Nash. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Roll Through the Midwest

LA Lakers defeat Minnesota Timberwolves 112-95. Darko was indeed freed. Darko Milicic scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, but that wasn’t enough for the Timberwolves to come away with the win over the Lakers. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Just Clownin' Around in DE-troit

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Just Clownin' Around in DE-troit

LA Lakers defeat Detroit Pistons 103-90. Turbulence thanks to the rain and wind and a hard landing that had even radio broadcaster Mychal Thompson a bit shaken couldn’t stop the Lakers. Thanks to the steady hands of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, the fears of a back-to-back on the road were dispelled as the Lakers cruised to victory in The Palace of Auburn Hills. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Kings Get Sloppy Win against 'Canes

LAst Night's Action: Kings Get Sloppy Win against 'Canes

LA Kings defeat Carolina Hurricanes 4-3. With Head Coach Terry Murray deciding to save goalie Jonathan Quick for division foe Phoenix Coyotes Thursday night, a shaky Jonathan Bernier had a tough go of it for the first two periods having not played since Oct. 10, 2010 in Calgary in a 3-1 loss. Thankfully he loosened up in the third period and the offense bailed him out for the 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Bailed Out by Kobe For Sixth Time

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Bailed Out by Kobe For Sixth Time

LA Lakers defeat Toronto Raptors 109-107. A Kobe Bryant circus shot with 1.9 seconds left in the game allowed the Lakers and their fans to avoid the sting of their first four game losing streak since April 8 to April 13, 2007. Most of the reason why the sixth Kobe bailout of the season was needed was the Lakers sometime horrific offensive execution against the Toronto zone defense. The Lakers went 3-for-15 in three point attempts and turned the ball over nine times which led to 10 Raptors points. Kobe Bryant scored 32 points, and Andrew Bynum added 22 points. For Toronto Chris Bosh scored 22 points including two behind the arc - he only attempted one since February 1. The Lakers now head on another three game road trip to Phoenix, Golden State and Sacramento. This should be very interesting if the Lakers don’t decide to play better. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Back to Winning

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Back to Winning

LA Lakers defeat Memphis Grizzlies 99-89. The Grizzlies had won five of their last seven games against the Lakers in Staples Center, but after losing their last two games the Lakers were determined not to let that happen. They forced the Grizzlies to just 41% shooting which gave the Lakers faithful their tacos. While this wasn't a great game by any stretch of the imagination for the Lakers, a win is a win. Lakers fans: you can breathe. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Play Like They Mean It

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Play Like They Mean It

LA Lakers defeat New Orleans Hornets 100-87. Sometimes I really think the Lakers just want to fuck with us. They came out and played like the team we all thought they were. The Lakers held the Hornets to 42% shooting and Chris Paul to 17 points on 6-for-16 shooting and 10 assists. Offensively there really isn't anything to worry about with the Lakers aside from the occasional off-shooting night. Kobe and Pau got their points while Andrew Bynum stayed out of foul trouble. The last time the Lakers faced the Hornets they had a huge lead slip away to just three points at the end of the game. There was no such collapse this time around. more ›
