Kings Take a Page from the Lakers Playbook

Kings Take a Page from the Lakers Playbook

The Kings and the Lakers have a lot of things in common right now. On Friday night the Lakers shot 19% from the field in a ten-point first quarter of their 92-80 loss to the Orlando Magic, their offensive woes becoming more glaring having only scored in triple-digits once this season. Of course it’s hard to have any offensive continuity when it comprises of only one player. more ›

Kings Have a Scoring Problem

Kings Have a Scoring Problem

It’s no secret that the Kings have a scoring problem. Simply put they have difficulties putting the puck in the net as evidenced by being in the NHL basement in scoring goals. This scoring-itis reared its ugly head again in the Kings 2-1 shootout loss to the Colorado Avalanche. more ›

Can the Kings Cope-itar?

With one twist of an ankle the mood at STAPLES Center went from hopeful to grim. At 15:39 of the second period with Colorado Avalanche defenseman Ryan O’Byrne and Kings’ All-Star center Anze Kopitar fighting for the puck on the boards, Kopitar landed awkwardly on his right leg falling into a heap on the ice. more ›

Kings Hang On In Face Of Avalanche

Kings Hang On In Face Of Avalanche

One would think that a 4-0 lead with 10:00 left in the game would be a laugher of a game. But as the game devolved with penalty after penalty being called, the Kings barely skated off the ice with a 4-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Kings Trick Hats in Colorado

LAst Night's Action: Kings Trick Hats in Colorado

LA Kings defeat Colorado Avalanche 6-4. Coming into the game the Kings had only scored one power-play goal. The Kings got two against the Avs by first-liners Anze Kopitar 11:15 in the first period and Dustin Brown 17:15 in the second period. Brad Richardson got his first career hat-trick with goals 4:58 in the second period, a short-handed goal 13:04 in the third and 17:05 in the third. Wayne Simmonds was given a five-minute major penalty and a ten-minute game misconduct 8:40 in the third period for butt-ending TJ Galiardi. Strange, strange game, but the Kings got the win. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Casually Lose to Portland

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Casually Lose to Portland

Portland Trail Blazers defeat LA Lakers 91-88. Here are the words no Lakers fans want to hear in the closing seconds of a game that is still undecided. “Pau Gasol for three…” Yet it happened. In a tie game in the closing seconds you don’t want Derek Fisher to foul Martell Webster behind the three point line as he goes to shoot. But he did. In the closing seconds you don’t want Kobe Bryant and fisher to brick three consecutive free throws... more ›

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Pecked in Eyes by Hawks

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Pecked in Eyes by Hawks

Atlanta Hawks defeat LA Lakers 109-92. No defense, no Lamar Odom, no bench, no win. The Hawks dominated the paint outscoring the Lakers 44-26 and double teamed Pau Gasol daring the Lakers to settle for perimeter shots. The Lakers bit on it unable to dictate much of anything for a second consecutive game. While Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 28 points and Pau Gasol despite being mugged getting a double-double with 16 points... more ›

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Regain Swagger in Road Win Over Spurs

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Regain Swagger in Road Win Over Spurs

LA Lakers defeat San Antonio Spurs 92-83. After looking pretty dreadful in the first half, things clicked with the Lakers in the second half. Bad shots, turnovers and a nonexistent defense plagued the Lakers in the first half. But the fourth quarter. Oh boy that fourth quarter. Three Ron Artest steals, one Pau Gasol steal and a... more ›

LAst Night's Action: Kings Reenergized in Overtime Win Over Avs

LAst Night's Action: Kings Reenergized in Overtime Win Over Avs

Despite blowing the lead with ten seconds left in regulation, the Kings attacked on a 4-on-3 power play 3:40 in overtime to defeat the Colorado Avalanche 4-3. Quick saved 19 shots while Ryan Smyth reemerged from the shadows scoring two goals to lead the Kings, his first goals since March 2 at Dallas and his first two-goal game since November 2 at Phoenix. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Cruise Over Wiz

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Cruise Over Wiz

LA Lakers defeat Washington Wizards 99-92. The Lakers starters were focused and kept their foot on the Wizards’ throats. Unfortunately the score doesn’t reflect that because the bench decided to play willy nilly and allow the desperate Wiz to cut the deficit to single digits. They were impressive in the first half with every shot going the Lakers way... more ›

LAst Night's Action: Clippers Scorched by Suns

LAst Night's Action: Clippers Scorched by Suns

Phoenix Suns defeat LA Clippers 127-101. Judging by the score it’s hard to believe the Clippers actually had a lead in the game, but the Clippers did go into the half with a one point lead 58-57. Then the Suns shot 77% in the third quarter while the Clippers went dormant shooting 37% to end the quarter with a 20 point lead. The Suns outglassed the Clips by a 50-30 margin, and while the Clippers won the turnover margin by one the Suns outscored them 21-9 off of turnovers. Chris Kaman led the Clippers with 24 points and nine rebounds while Amare Stoudemire killed the Clips with 30 points and 14 rebounds. Wait, Stoudemire rebounds now? more ›

LAst Night's Action: Clippers Sweep!

LAst Night's Action: Clippers Sweep!

LA Clippers defeat NY Knicks 140-135 (OT). You read correctly. The Clippers swept the Knicks this season. In both games Al Harrington saved the Clips by getting a technical foul at the end of regulation. In the last game he slapped the backboard after a slam dunk giving the Knicks a three point lead. This time he hung on the rim after a slam dunk giving the Knicks a three point lead. Eerie huh? However this time Mike Taylor scored a career high 35 points for the Clips while the Clippers emerged from an offensive funk. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Youth Pound Sick Clippers

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Youth Pound Sick Clippers

LA Lakers defeat LA Clippers 108-97. Andrew Bynum had a career game against the Clippers scoring 42 points with 15 rebounds. 42 points! That's the most points in a game that any Laker has scored this season. But let's not forget about Kobe Bryant who had a triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. It seemed like his gnarled shooting hand gave him few problems. The Clippers though showed moxie led by Deandre Jordan's 23 points. If he can keep it up the Clippers will be fantastic over the long haul. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Queens Outplay Lakers

LAst Night's Action: Queens Outplay Lakers

Sacramento Kings defeat LA Lakers 113-101. Since their lack of defense was pointed out last season, it would be nice if the Lakers could show some defensive fervor. While they were strong in the first several games, it has all seemed to fall apart. And that was evident in this game. The obvious number is the 113 the Kings scored. This is a Kings team that have lost eight straight games. While the Lakers had their moments, the Kings just carved up the Lakers interior defense. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Clippers Are Still the Clippers

LAst Night's Action: Clippers Are Still the Clippers

New Orleans Hornets defeat LA Clippers 99-87. Clippers rookie sensation Eric Gordon proved that his one year at Indiana wasn't a fluke. He led the Clippers with 25 points while not Anthony Morrow-esque is still nothing to sneeze at. While three other starters scored double digits, it was still too little to combat the Hornets. Chris Paul had his sixth career triple-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 17 assists. David West made up for Paul's relative lack of scoring leading all scorers with 27 points. more ›

             + 8 more

The Los Angeles Kings new alternate jersey was revealed on Saturday night as the Kings faced the Colorado Avalanche at Staples Center. The team will wear the jerseys for limited number of home games this season. The new look is silver and black with a simple bold logo that harks back to the old Gretzky heyday from the 80's. One good thing about the striking new logo is that, with the prominent "LA" featured, nobody will be asking how things are in Sacramento when you wear it. more ›

Kings Bust Caps, 5-2

             + 1 more

Los Angeles Kings fans were a bit apprehensive about seeing their team face superstar Alex Ovechkin and his red-hot Washington Capitals on Thursday night. On one hand, it was a rare chance to see the Capitals, who haven't visited L.A. since Dec. 14, 2005. On the other, the Kings were on a two-game slide and the Caps were riding a streak of six wins in seven games, including a thrashing of the Ducks on the previous evening. more ›
