After two weeks of middling studio releases (e.g. Sex and the City 2: Bitches Abroad, Shrek 4: Again?, Prince of Persia 1: Why?), we finally get some decent product today. Fresh off its recent Sundance success, Splice launches into theaters as a thinking-man's Species. Brody and Polley give this horror flick extra class and oomph. I didn't love Russell Brand in Sarah Marshall, but I'll give Get Him to the Greek a shot -- mostly due to the always interesting Jonah Hill. The presence of the lethally dull Sean Combs is cause for alarm, however,
Weekend Movie Guide: Splice or Greek? Or both?
DVD Tuesday: ALERT! New Andy Kaufman DVD!
When the subject is Andy Kaufman, people seem to divide into two fairly distinct camps: those brilliant few who recognize him as a comic genius years ahead of his time and the fucking idiots who should probably be put to sleep by the government. While Andy Kaufman: World Inter-Gender Wrestling Champion doesn't offer anything new to the devoted Kaufman-phile, it does package it all together nicely. Buy it for a friend or your mom today! Better yet, start an inter-gender wrestling club in your local community! I know I am, girls!
DVD Tuesday: The Woodman Riseth!
After several lean years (anyone care to remember Deconstructing Harry or the laughless Hollywood Ending), Woody Allen is on a pretty good roll lately. Vicky Cristina Barcelona may be his best film since the fantastic Bullets Over Broadway. Kirk Cameron. Christian Action Star. Pride and Glory wasn't great, but it hit all the right notes of your standard cop corruption film. Colin Farrell is really back with a vengeance, though, huh? Speaking of being back, Guy Ritchie certainly seems to be right on track again with RockNRolla.
Box Office Review: Tweens Rule!
Disney's decision to move the ($6.9M/$78.1M) which continues to perform well despite my most fervent prayers.
DVD Tuesday: Get Hammered!
Most people have probably pegged Adam Carolla as little more than a snarky morning DJ, but .
DVD Tuesday: Hey, innocent bystanders! Duck!
I liked , but I'm glad to see Woody Harrelson working again. Here's to hoping he finds something befitting his unique talents.
Box Office Review: America Loves Fools
In what can only be seen as a ratification of Mike Huckabee's belief that Satan actually exists, .
Weekend Movie Guide: Vaughn-tastic!
After the awful , Vince Vaughn owes us some laughs and Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights - Hollywood to the Heartland might be just the ticket. It follows Vaughn and four hand-picked comedians as they cross the country to play an exhausting 30 shows in 30 nights. There are a bevy of on-stage celebrity cameos and Vaughn never lets his out-sized persona overwhelm everyone else...mostly.

LAist caught up with Ben Lyons from E! to tell us what Park City is really like during the Sundance Film Festival. Weekend Movie Guide: Go see Cloverfield
I'm shocked at the middling critical response that Cloverfield has generated. Sure, it's only a popcorn movie, but it's a is not a huge box-office hit. I also can't imagine there not being a huge backlash any day now. Flame away!
