Tonight In Rock: Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Indian Jewelry, The Yelling, Holly Conlan

Tonight eclectic English trio Kitty, Daisy & Lewis (LAist Interview) will be opening for Coldplay at Verizon Wireless Amphiteater. Local rockers the Yelling (LAist Interview) are poised to grace Spaceland for this week's edition of HellYa! And, lastly, LA-based singer-songwriter Holly Conlan will be performing at the Hotel Café with a slew of peers, including Brother Sal and Jim Bianco. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Echo late in the evening to catch Houston-based psych-infused noise anomaly Indian Jewelry. LAist favorites Pyschic Ills will be kicking things off. more ›

Guitarist Joe Satriani, who believes the band lifted the melody of their mega-hit (aka overplayed snoozefest) "Viva la Vida" from his nowhere-near-a-hit "If I Could Fly," is prepped to serve them with legal papers, and has a team willing to trail the boys in the band around all weekend because "the Grammys are the easiest forum at which to strike while the iron is hot," reports Fox News. Apparently Coldplay has dodged the servers, so Satriani's legal eagles want to pounce--ideally when the cameras are rolling, giving viewers one reason to tune in to another televised entertainment industry circle jerk. December is list-making season. And for us music journalists, it is a time to look back on scores of albums, reflect upon the music and recapitulate our favorites. But this year, just like the last, we took this opportunity to flip that tradition upside down, asking the artists that influenced us what influenced them. The prompt was not limited to albums that came out in 2008. more ›
