Filmmaker Raises Funds For Documentary About 'Artistic' Toilet Papering Society

In America, kids toilet paper houses. In Los Angeles, kids grow up to get film degrees and make documentaries about their toilet papering exploits. Back in the 1990s, Whit Scott was chosen to become a member of a secret toilet papering society started at Claremont High School in 1979 by a guy names Haines. Each member had a role and Scott was selected to be the photographer. Now he believes it's time to dust off those old archives and honor the suburban prankster tradition with a proper documentary. more ›

'Westside Rapist' Arrested, Blamed for 30 Murders

A 72-year-old man suspected of raping and killing at least 30 women was arrested last month for the killing of one woman who was part of a serial spree that lasted around 15 years. John F. Thomas was matched to an old case via DNA after police began swabbing registered sex offenders. Thomas, who went to prison in 1978 for a rape in Pasadena, had two waves of rape-killings. The first was on the Westside before he was caught. After serving time, he moved to Chino and another wave began in Claremont. Through all this, Thomas was never connected or suspected by police, despite leaving 20 survivors. After he was arrested, more DNA results came in connecting him to four other deaths. Thomas would prey on older woman living alone. He would rape and strangle them and leave a pillow or blanket over their faces. more ›

One Plan Suggest to Replace Gold Line Ext. with Metrolink

One Plan Suggest to Replace Gold Line Ext. with Metrolink

Pasadena Blog, Under the Dome, has found that there is an alternative plan/idea to expand the Gold Line out to Claremont. Instead of light rail, as we know the Gold Line today, the extension would be Metrolink. From reporter Dan Abendschein: "An alternative plan, said Snoble, would be to build the Gold Line as far as Azusa/Glendora, then build a heavy rail Metrolink line from there to Claremont to link the Gold Line to existing Metrolink lines. That would be more cost-effective, said Snoble, because light rail is more expensive to power with an electric system than a fuel-based one." more ›
