With two cameras, a highly entertaining photo editing feature, an online game store, and a music player, Nintendo lovers have been waiting with baited breath for the latest installment of one of the world’s most popular handheld gaming consoles. Last weekend LAist was invited to Nintendo’s official launch party, where hundreds lined up at the GameStop at the Universal City Walk to be among the first to get their hands on the new DSi.

The best all-girl rock band ever to come out of Palo Alto is scheduled to rock the Universal Studios City Walk tonight as part of the festivities for the Dodger Rally, as the home team prepares to travel to the big apple to take on the New York Mets. From 6p-8p, FreeFM's morning radio cellar-dweller Adam Carolla will MC the party that will star Dodger greats like Ron Cey, Steve Garvey, and Tommy Lasorda....

Universal CityWalk gets the big WTF for what we witnessed in our short 45-minute jaunt to pick up a friend there last night. In that small period of time, there was much to witness: one hiccupping drunk laying on the parking garage men's bathroom floor, three separate fights and one bartender who didn't know how to make a Madras (you know, it doesn't need cranberry juice or anything).

After a week of moving into a new house, travelling to the midwest and back and being without internet or TV, this LAist contributor is a little overwhelmed with everything he's missed and has to catch up on. We say goodbye to Phil and hello to Alex and just as soon as we can get our -ist shit together, we'll have a new contributor writing focusing on local politics as well. Now, here's what caught our eye today:

LAist is happy to note that MONA has just opened a new installation this week, and this one's a special one: MONA Celebrates 24 Years with 24 Artists. Celebrate with them! The Opening Reception is Saturday, April 16th, from 7:30-10:30 p.m., featuring live music and refreshments. MONA members are free, for non-members the admission is $5.00.
