You didn't think we meant that actress and animal advocate Betty White herself got naked, did you? It's her hot dogs that 88-year-old White likes to keep to a bare-bun minimum, which is how the "Betty `Naked' in the City' Hot Dog" came to be at the new Pink's at Universal CityWalk. White was on hand to participate in both the launch of her namesake hot dog and the new outpost of the long-time beloved hot dog-ery. Said White of her love of a plain hot dog: "The weenie is so good, I have the weenie and the bun, and so they said, `Well, it's a naked hot dog,'" reports KTLA. The CityWalk Pink's is the first Valley location of the hot dog stand.
Naked Weenie-Lovin' Betty White Helps Launch CityWalk Pink's
Betty White Prefers Her Wieners Naked
No, seriously: The octogenarian "Golden Girl" likes her hot dogs plain, which is why the new Pink's Hot Dogs opening in Universal CityWalk next week will be one served without toppings and named in her honor. Betty White will appear on Monday at 10 a.m. for the special hot dog dedication and the location's grand opening, according to a news release. It will be called the "Betty 'Naked in the City' Hot Dog" and a portion of its sales "will go to support the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services' animal shelters," explains cbs2. White will serve as host of Saturday Night Live on May 8.
DUI Checkpoint in Universal City Tonight
From 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., the LAPD will be holding a DUI checkpoint at Lankershim and Campo de Cahuenga. It's actually a genius spot because that's the entrance and exit to Universal Studios and CityWalk. It's also home to the Metro Red Line Subway Station. The North Hollywood police division, which covers the Universal City area, has experienced 166 driving under the influence-related and 1,058 hit and run traffic collisions so far in 2009.

Last weekend LAist was invited to Nintendo’s official launch party, where hundreds lined up at the GameStop at the Universal City Walk to be among the first to get their hands on the new DSi.
Get Out: Things to do on Christmas Day
It's Christmas and hey, not everything is closed. So here are some options of what you can do today...
LA, Where Are You?
Apparently I am the only one who hasn't finished her holiday shopping. I went to my three prime people watching spots this weekend, and they were dead. Here I am, armed with camera, bills for parking, extra batteries, a ton of memory cards, a notepad and my walking shoes, and I show up and no one's around. I felt so abandoned.
Barack Obama in Los Angeles
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is scheduled to make a stop in Los Angeles Monday at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal City Walk.
Extra, Extra - Hot Chicks Prefer Ugly Dudes
- "Ugly men try harder. They care more about you and treat you like a princess. Good-looking guys are self-obsessed. That’s not attractive." - The Sun Online - Girls Gone Wild asswipe founder pleads no contest to feeling up an 18-year old at a January party in Hollywood. Oh CityWalk...
We're not the biggest fans of Universal City Walk, but, BIGHOMMIE77, thank you.
The Donnas to headline Dodger Rally Tonight
The best all-girl rock band ever to come out of Palo Alto is scheduled to rock the Universal Studios City Walk tonight as part of the festivities for the Dodger Rally, as the home team prepares to travel to the big apple to take on the New York Mets. From 6p-8p, FreeFM's morning radio cellar-dweller Adam Carolla will MC the party that will star Dodger greats like Ron Cey, Steve Garvey, and Tommy Lasorda....
Your Freaks and Neighbors
Quick -- what happens when you want to put on an American Idol-esque show during the summer TV doldrums, and Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest are busy spending the bizillions they earned during the regular TV season?
What is up CityWalk?
Universal CityWalk gets the big WTF for what we witnessed in our short 45-minute jaunt to pick up a friend there last night. In that small period of time, there was much to witness: one hiccupping drunk laying on the parking garage men's bathroom floor, three separate fights and one bartender who didn't know how to make a Madras (you know, it doesn't need cranberry juice or anything).
Odds & Ends
After a week of moving into a new house, travelling to the midwest and back and being without internet or TV, this LAist contributor is a little overwhelmed with everything he's missed and has to catch up on. We say goodbye to Phil and hello to Alex and just as soon as we can get our -ist shit together, we'll have a new contributor writing focusing on local politics as well. Now, here's what caught our eye today:
