A Metro station. Councilman Garcetti's office. The gateway to Thai Town. New development. The Hollywood & Highland ownership, The CIM Group's involvement (they were just given a princely loan from The City for another project too.) Supergraphics Start to Come Down in Hollywood
The supergraphic saga continues and the LA Times is taking numbers. The CIM Group is beginning to take down five illegal supergraphics that they thought were legal, even though the company signed a contract stating they couldn't put up supergraphics. The real estate group has been given $28 million in taxpayer subsidies for redevelopment projects in Hollywood and other neighborhoods and is seeking permission for 11 supergraphics on a large new shopping center project in Mid-City on Pico Boulevard.
Lack of Respect or Civil Disobedience? Illegal Supergraphics Grace Hollywood & Highland
Even though the city has given the CIM Group over $28 million in financial aid for the past few years for redevelopment projects, they are allowing illegal supergraphics and billboards on their properties in Hollywood. The city agreed last year to let them have three supergraphics--currently there are six. Additionally, the agreement included taking down two billboards that are still up.
Valley to get New State-of-the-Art Theater
The birth of a new parking structure that will serve the future redone Reseda Theater began yesterday near the intersection of Sherman Way and Reseda Blvd. "The 8,500-square-foot theater will be gutted and reconfigured into an 11,000- square-foot, state-of- the-art, live-performance and special-event venue," reports the Daily News. It will get a $7.7 million makeover and is being rehabilitated by the CIM Group, who runs Hollywood & Highland, among many other redevelopment properties in the Los Angeles area.
