LA Dodgers defeat Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5. While their ninth inning rally eventually stalled on Matt Kemp's pop fly to right field Saturday night, the Dodgers made sure their comeback Sunday afternoon down 4-1 in the ninth inning would not be stopped. In an almost identical situation as Saturday night Matt Kemp came to the plate with a runner on first and two outs in the ninth trailing 4-3, Kemp stayed patient at the plate......

The Dodger's first half in one image. AP Photo/Kevork Djansezian. The Dodgers start the second half of their season at division leading Arizona tonight. Every team in the NL West is under .500, and it's not inconceivable to see the NL West Champion to be under .500. The second half of the baseball season is not going to be pretty for the Dodgers. With closer Takashi Saito out for what the team says is......

LA Dodgers defeat Florida Marlins 9-1. Marlins starter Andrew Miller looked absolutely horrible. He went 1 2/3 innings and gave up seven earned runs on five hits and five walks which could have been worse if reliever Mark Hendrickson (remember him?) didn't get the final out in the second inning with the bases loaded. Meanwhile Chad Billingsley went seven innings notching a season-high 13 strike outs while giving up only one run on five hits.......

Chivas Fails to Hold the Lead. AP Photos Chivas USA ties LA Galaxy 1-1. The Galaxy came out strong at the beginning of the first half, but soon gave way to Chivas' aggressiveness. Ante Razov would score for Chivas in the 15th minute with the assist from Sacha Klejstan. The Galaxy didn't look sharp at all especially Landon Donovan. However Edson Buddle saved the Galaxy in the 72nd minute with a game tying goal......

A Galaxy team eager to change their recent fortunes will take the field tonight at the Home Depot Center against bitter rival Chivas USA. While Chivas USA are starting to come into form, the Galaxy are as unpredictable today as they were when the season started, winning 4 out of 5 matches leading up to their tie against Columbus on June 14, then failing to win in the three games since then, one of......

Boston Celtics defeat LA Lakers 98-88. Well I called it didn't I? Two things hampered the Lakers: bad rebounding, and missing seven consecutive field goal attempts down the stretch in the fourth quarter. The Lakers were outrebounded 46-33 by the Celtics including giving up 10 offensive rebounds. The Lakers shot 41.6% while the Celtics shot 42.1%. So the Lakers know what lies ahead. And today should be a great day hearing what Vic the......

LA Dodgers defeat LA Angels 6-2. It took a National League team to give Ervin Santana his first loss. Blake Dewitt led things off the scoring in the second inning with a questionable two-run homer. It looked like a fan had interfered with the ball, but the umpires ruled the ball a home run. Chan Ho Park got the start for the Dodgers and fortunately Tim Belcher was not in attendance. He had a......

Utah Jazz over LA Lakers 123-115 (OT). With Kobe Bryant visibly affected by a strained back, the Lakers managed to tie the game at the end of regulation after being down by 12 with four minutes to go. But come overtime, the Lakers could not ride that momentum. The Jazz in a complete role reversal got to the line 45 times as opposed to 25 by the Lakers. The series is now tied 2-2......

LA Lakers over Utah Jazz 109-98. MVP Kobe Bryant and the Lakers showed that a six-day layoff wouldn't decrease their intensity as they spanked the Jazz Sunday afternoon. Before the sold-out crowd at Staples, the Jazz looked gassed in the fourth quarter from having played six tough games against the Houston Rockets in the first round. The MVP scored 38 points and went to the free-throw line a playoff career high 23 times only......

It was a beautiful night for soccer in Carson last night. The Galaxy and Chivas USA put on a highly entertaining display of soccer that did not disappoint the sell out crowd at The Home Depot Center. The supporters groups and other fans joined in the festivities, rarely allowing a moment to tick by without their presence being heard, making for an electric atmosphere. The first meeting of the year for the clubs began......

LA Lakers defeat Denver Nuggets 102-84. The thin air seemingly inconsequential, the Lakers continued to pound the Nuggets to ultimate self destruction. The Nuggets decided to be more defensive which seemed laughable at points, but their offense just couldn't get going. Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson combined for 10-38 shooting with 16 and 15 points respectively which just isn't going to get it done. The Lakers can close out the series on Monday in......

All the ingredients have been added including competitive clubs, world class stars and passionate fans. The Chivas USA were introduced to......

Arizona Diamondbacks (16-6) defeat LA Dodgers (9-13) 6-4. The good news: the Dodgers scored more than one run. The bad news: the Dodgers still lost. Chad Billingsley (0-4) started off shakily but eventually struck out six of eight consecutive batters. Jeff Kent and Joe Torre were ejected from the game in the top of the ninth for arguing a blown call in the eighth inning when second base umpire Andy Fletcher said Kent was......

I thought it would be fun to dig up an old pic from September 2002 for this week's Galaxy preview. Nice collection of trophies, even though it is missing at least three others: US Open Cup 2005 and MLS Cup 2002, 2005. Soccer is a passionate sport, stirring strong emotions in players and fans alike. Nothing brings these emotions out more than a good derby. Each derby is unique in its own way, usually......

LA Lakers defeat Denver Nuggets 128-114. Technicals and flagrants and ejections oh my! Nugget's JR Smith got a flagrant foul and four players received technicals: the Laker's Kobe Bryant and the Nugget's Kenyon Martin, Anthony Carter and a double-T for Allen Iverson who was summarily ejected. Pau Gasol in his first ever playoff victory led all scorers with 36 points and Jordan Farmar closed out a 39-22 third quarter with his now routine last......

LA Dodgers defeat San Diego Padres 11-1. The Dodgers continue to win against San Diego pitchers not named Peavy. For what seems like the first time this season, the Dodgers were able to consistently string hits together to get more than one run to score in an inning. Padres started Chris Young couldn't get ahead of any hitter, and Derek Lowe did what he does best: the sinker to induce ground outs retiring 20......

Memphis Tigers defeat UCLA Bruins 78-63. Memphis was too much for UCLA. While the Bruins kept it manageable for most of the game, the Tigers turned up the gear in the final five minutes to send the Bruins home. Darren Collison scored only two points before fouling out in the second half, and the Bruins couldn't get the ball to Kevin Love. Memphis will face Kansas Monday night in the championship game. San Diego......

Lakers 119, Jazz 109 - The Lakers may have won their second straight game against a division champ. Kobe may be playing team ball (and even blocked a dunk, for cryin' out loud). We're still not buying it ... Derek Fisher was 0-for-7 in the first half against his former team, but finished with 19 points ... The Lakers removed press row from courtside, adding 15 more seats which are going for $2,300 per game.......

Chivas USA 0, FC Dallas 0 - LA's top team hasn't lost since July, earning a draw last night with Dallas. Brad Guzan had his MLS-leading 12th save to increase Chivas' lead in the Western Conference to four points with two games left to play. Unfortunately, Chivas was unable to capitalize on a one man advantage for the last ten minutes of the match. Warriors 119, Lakers 106 - Ahhh, preseason. 14 of 15 Lakers......

Ducks 2, Bruins 1 - After managing just one win in five road games to start the season, the defending Stanley Cup Champions returned home on Wednesday to take care of some business. Boston led from the first minute until a third-period comeback, when the Anaheim looked a little more like their championship form. Dallas 5, Kings 1 - This was familiar. Dallas swept the season series 8-0 last year, and maintained their form into......

Chivas 3, Real Salt Lake 2 - By taking advantage of last-place Salt Lake on Saturday, Chivas USA also took sole possession of first place in the West. Who's the best team in LA? Hmmmm. Galaxy 2, Dynamo 1 - Los Angeles' other team responded in the playoff chase by picking up a victory on Sunday. The Galacticos continue to cause sellouts on the road, with over 30,000 attending in Houston. David Beckham remained on......

Angels 18, Orioles 6 - Anaheim and Baltimore have combined for a whopping 39 runs in the past two game. The Halos had 18 last night, thanks to 13 walks and 3 errors given to them by the Orioles. Baltimore was so bad on defense that their offense hammered Kelvim Escobar for 6 earned runs in 5.1 innings and he still got the W. Vladimir Guerrero went yard, as did Brandon Wood -- for the......

Cubs 8, Dodgers 2 - There goes that winning streak. The Blew Crew committed three errors, but only allowed one unearned run. That left an average of one earned for each of the seven pitchers used by Los Angeles. Juan Pierre was responsible for one of the errors, but also picked up his 55th stolen base of the year. A's 6, Angels 2 - Garret Anderson has been en fuego. He extended his RBI streak......

Dodgers 6, Mets 2 - Los Angeles might be wishing they picked up Boomer sooner. They took advantage of the shiny new toy latest addition, as 44 year old veteran David Wells pitched five innings to pick up career win 236. He allowed two runs on seven hits, but did throw four scoreless innings. He also had a bunt single to lead off the fifth and scored later in the inning. Angels 3, Blue Jays......

Chivas USA 3, Galaxy 0 - It looks like the British are in a fighting mood. After being tackled hard from behind, Beckham yelled at Jesse Marsch, his attacker (err, actually defender ... no, make that midfielder). That turned into a shoving match between the teams, which grew into a full on scrap involving at least one solid punch and a nasty headbutt. Mr. Prettyboy Beckham wasn't involved in any of the physical altercations, though......

#15 Chivas Midfielder Jesse Marsch threw out a hard kick at Beckham's lower regions in response to a slight shove at the 45:00 minute mark of the LA Galaxy Chivas USA rivalry game tonight at the Home Depot Center. The kick came almost from behind Beckham, sending him crashing to the field in what would have been a Galaxy scoring opportunity. Beckham immediately gets up on his feet and exclaims "What the fuck, man?!" Withholding......

Angels 13, Tigers 4 - The Angels got back on track this weekend, hammering NL Central leader Detroit for 34 runs in a three game sweep. Anaheim reached double-digits in each game and had 12 runs by the end of the third inning on Sunday. Chone Figgins had three runs in the finale and every starter scored at least once. Rockies 9, Dodgers 6 - Los Angeles couldn't sustain a 9th inning rally and dropped......

Dodgers 5, Rockies 4 - Los Angeles must feel like they dodged a bullet after Thursday night -- not because of Colorado's attempted comeback, but because of all the pitching injuries. Brad Penny earned his 13th win, but was pulled out of the game in the seventh after an all-out sprint to earn a single. Turns out he only had a bad cramp. Takashi Saito returned after missing seven games with shoulder trouble, taking the......

Angels 7, A's 6 - Francisco Rodriguez blew a save opportunity despite a three run lead. Fortunately, he was saved by Maicer Izturis' RBI single with two out in the bottom of the ninth. Vladimir Guerrero took the day off and while the Halos generated plenty of offense without him, none of the 15 hits left the park. The team's recent home run slump coincides with Vlad's, who hasn't gone yard in 24 games despite......

Dodgers 7, Braves 6 - It feels like a good summer in LA. The weather is hot, the Dodgers are in first, three of the Blue Crew are going to the All Star Game, and everybody has the day off for the 4th. Well, almost everybody. The Dodgers will be back in action tonight and hope for some more on-field fireworks. Last night they connected for 13 hits to power home 7 runs. Wilson Betemit......
