A 32-year-old male student at Santa Clarita's College of the Canyons was arrested Tuesday on charges of disorderly conduct and possession of child pornography after he was found attempting to film a boy using a campus restroom. Fifth-grade Dominguez Elementary School teacher Silvestre Ela has been arrested for possession and distribution of child pornography and police are asking for possible sexual abuse victims to step forward, according to the LAPD. Several computers and DVDs containing pornographic images were taken from Ela's home. Ela, 53, has admitted to viewing and downloading images of child pornography, but has denied preying on or victimizing children. He could face up to three years in state prison if convicted. more ›

A 58-year-old middle school teacher in Hollywood was arrested last week for alleged possession of child pornography, the LAPD announced today. Barry Klein, who has been teaching at Bancroft Middle School since 2001, became subject of an investigation in April and was immediately removed from campus to be put to work in a non-school location, according to Robert Alaniz, LAUSD's Director of Communications & Media Relations.
