Allowing a Cheesehead to invade here and write down his thoughts have now counted as my charitable deed of the year. It feels good to get that out of the way so early in the year.
The Chicago Bears won't be feeling that charitable tomorrow.
While Monty did have an impressive list of facts to support his assertion that the Bears are merely lucky, one detail he failed to delve into was the last meeting between the two team.
Bears Vs. Packers: Ready for a Mauling?
Why the Green Bay Packers Will Put The Chicago Bears Out of Their Misery
“The Chicago Bears get no respect.”
We've heard the refrain a hundred times. You know why the Chicago Bears don't get any respect? Because the Chicago Bears don't deserve any respect.
Yes, they have a pretty nice defense. Sure, they have one of the best return men of all time. That doesn't mean they belong in the NFC Championship game, much less the Super Bowl.
LAst Night's Action: Dodgers Get to Ubaldo. Again.
LA Dodgers defeat Colorado Rockies 3-1. Casey Blake gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead in the first inning against Ubaldo Jimenez (L, 19-8) with a line drive single off Jimenez’s foot that blooped over shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, and that was all Ted Lilly (W, 9-12) needed. Lilly pitched eight innings giving up only a run in the fourth inning. With Blake on third base, AJ Ellis accounted for the third run in the ninth inning with a line drive single of his own. Hong-Chih Kuo pitched a perfect ninth for his 11th save of the season. So one question begs to be asked here: with first base open why in the hell do you pitch to Ellis especially with a runner on third base?
LAst Night's Action: Lakers Continue to Struggle against Bobcats
Charlotte Bobcats defeat LA Lakers 98-83. Right after the Lakers overtime loss in Miami I tweeted that the Lakers would also lose this game in Charlotte, and they did not disappoint. After trailing the Bobcats by six going into the half, the Lakers came out in the third quarter playing their worst basketball in years. Three turnovers, two misses and blocked twice, the Lakers did not get a field goal until Derek Fisher knocked in a three 4:27.
LAst Night's Action: Lakers Couldn't Lose This One
LA Lakers defeat Memphis Grizzlies 105-96. They really couldn't lose this game if they tried. And boy did they try. The Lakers were trailing the Grizzlies by eight at halftime and were thankful that the Grizzlies inexperience and youth gave the Lakers the win. Andrew Bynum scored 13 points with four rebounds while playing only 21 minutes. And in the battle of the Gasol brothers Pau got the upper hand with 15 points and seven rebounds against Marc's eight points and seven rebounds. The Lakers now head to New Orleans to see if they can hypnotize the Hornets into futility.
LAst Night's Action: More Futility a Mile High
Colorado Rockies defeat LA Dodgers 5-3. Dodger's starter Hiroki Kuroda came out shaky in the first three innings but eventually pulled it together in his last three innings. Unfortunately the aftermath of the first three innings was giving up five runs to the Rockies who seemed to luxuriate in hitting the Dodgers. Apart from the eight-run first inning of the first game, the Dodgers were completely outplayed in this series. The positive note: Andruw Jones got an RBI double. The Dodgers will take a day off to think about what they have done, or more appropriately what they haven't done.
LAst Night's Action: Rays Bedevil Angels
Tampa Bay Rays defeat LA Angels 13-4. This Rays team is very good. The Rays got things started in the third inning with back-to-back-to-back homers by Evan Longoria, former Dodgers Willy Aybar and Dioner Navarro. The Angels would take the lead 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth, but the Rays came back in the top of fifth with five runs. The way the Rays are going, could a playoff appearance be in their future?
LAist NFL Playoff Guide
With the regular season of the NFL coming to an end, what have we truly learned?
LAist Armchair Quarterback Week 5: What Have We Learned
With week 5 done in the NFL season, what have we learned so far? Thing learned the first: Norv Turner really isn’t that great a head coach. Granted they beat the Chicago Bears in week 1, but to lose to the Kansas City Chiefs who still have a question at quarterback is inexcusable. Thing learned the second: Rex Grossman is bad. True the ole ball coach Steve Spurrier named him Sexy Rexy, but he’s...
LAist Armchair Quarterback Week 3: Get Rex Off the Field!!!!!
I’m a huge Chicago Bears fan, and my friends saw the terrible pain I was in watching the Superbowl this year. After that loss it pained to me to make the prediction that the Bears would be in a lot of trouble this season. The fact that it has come true makes me feel like I’m passing a kidney stone. Just like Grady Little was obstinate in keeping Nomar Garciaparra at first base this...
NFL Season Preview: 5 Burning Questions Answered
I know our city hasn’t had an NFL team in over a decade, but that doesn’t mean the NFL is dead in this city. Since most of us Angelinos come from other parts of the country, we still hold on to our hometown football teams. Even though I grew up in Baton Rouge, LA until I was eight, I am a huge Chicago Bears fan. My first recollection of football was Superbowl XX which...
Raider Nation For Lyfe
Here at LAist we faced a tough decision last year - to cover the Raiders or not cover the Raiders.
WTF of the Day: Thomas Jones Traded To Jets
During their Super Bowl run LAist sorta fell in love with Da New Bears. And seeing as it's going to be a long time till LA gets an NFL team we were kinda thinking about adopting the Monsters of the Midway, especially since so many of us on staff here are from the Windy. And we are willing to hang in there with Sexy Rexy as he learns how to get it together in...

The Politically Incorrect (But Real) Reasons The Bears Will Win The Super Bowl Today
This was supposed to just be a reminder to sign up for the Super Bowl contest before kickoff, but I may as well tell you how I came to my prediction of Bears 41, Colts 16 with Devin Hester running for 170 yards. Let it be known that I am not a psychic or a medium or seer or anything, I'm just a mild mannered American man who watches way too much football and...
Pick the Score of the Super Bowl and Win!

LAist is giving away a cd six-pack of new discs -- thanks to our pals at Filter (who are the best) -- to the reader who has the finest skills as predicting the future. Here is how we will determine the winner: 1) Did you pick the right team that won? 2) Margin...
Shufflin' on Through to Ecstasy -- What LA's Missing
I’ve loved sports since I was 11 years old. No one else in my family was interested in sports, but I independently developed an obsessive love for the Chicago Bulls, who promptly won six championships in the next eight seasons, enough to cement a life-long affair. I grew to love all Chicago teams and then, when I started college at Michigan, found a school just as much in love with its football, hockey and...

Since Thursday, LAist has been covering the wild adventures of a young woman named Sarah from Brentwood who has been having the strangest Super Bowl adventures. She claimed to have...
Brentwood Bears Fan Update: She's Now Going to the Super Bowl and has an Extra ticket for a Lucky Guy
On Thursday we told you about a Brentwood woman who was auctioning herself off on eBay to get a ticket to the Super Bowl. Apparently, due to the overwhelming attention of her auction she was given four tickets to the game by Axe deodorant or spray or whatever. And they're going to pay her to hold a nationwide contest for the fourth ticket, meaning now she can pick someone that she can take to...

Da Super Bowl Shuffle
(If YouTube vid is missing, click here to watch via Yahoo!) We think LA should have its own football team -- in fact, it's the perfect added-value for whomever is lucky enough to win the bid on the LA Times. In the meantime, we will be watching -- and we'll give credit where credit's due. Peyton Manning, it's amazing how you can be in all those commercials AND burn the Pats at the same...
Bears vs. Cardinals Pre-Game 10/16/07
LAist is on the road in search of the perfect football game. If you saw last night's Monday Night Football spectacular you might agree that we were in the right place at the right time to meet our goal. We were also in the parking lot of the University of Phoenix Stadium to remind our fellow Angelenos what the NFL is all about. It's about showing up early, tailgating, painting your face, talking trash,...
LAist Road Trip hits the Grand Canyon
LAist is driving around the country to find the fountain of youth. Currently we're in Arizona to see the Monday Night Football game between the Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. We're here because LA doesn't have a pro football team for some reason. Yesterday we went to that huge crack in the country called The Grand Canyon. We'd been here before and to tell you the truth, we were less than impressed. Huge crack....
