Huntington Beach's Ocean View Little League team has brought joy upon their town, returning home last night after beating Japan in the Little League World Championships in Pennsylvania on Sunday. Upon their arrival, the team -- which consists of boys between the ages of 11 and 13 -- were greeted by family, friends and fans, reports ABC 7. The kids expressed their excitement over the turnout.

LA Lakers player Ron Artest auctioned off his one and only NBA championship ring in the name of charity on Saturday night. Raymond Mikkael, a father of four from Hawthorne, walked away with the prized prize, while proceeds from the raffle -- estimated at over $500,000 -- went to benefit mental health awareness and treatment for children, a cause important to the athlete, reports KTLA.
Los Angeles Lakers Honored By President Obama
For winning their second consecutive NBA championship, the riot-inducing Los Angeles Lakers will be honored today by President Obama at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington.
Coaches, players, and trainer Gary Vitti will all be participating in a service project at the club in keeping with the Obama administration's practice of carrying out service while presenting an honor.
Security Footage, YouTube, Flickr Lead to Multiple Arrests After Lakers Melee
“It’s nearly impossible to stay anonymous in this age of cell phones, video, and social websites; and that’s a good thing, if it holds people more accountable for their behavior,” said Lt. Paul Vernon, head of LAPD detectives downtown, today about the 20th arrest related to the Lakers Championship melee on June 14th (a list of all arrests are embedded below). Detectives have been using security footage from around downtown, complementing it with videos and images posted on websites like YouTube and Flickr.

This year's finale will feature a newly redesigned trophy and two unlikely competitors, Columbus Crew and New York Red Bulls.
