Noses Twitched, Spell Cast, 'Bewitched' Remake In The Works
Classic comedy never completely fades, and a recent script deal between Sony Pictures Television and CBS has us slapping our knees in excitement (and doubt). With the twitches of a few entertainment executives' noses, CBS has ordered a script from Sony for a remake of Bewitched, reports Variety.

TV Junkie: An Appeal To David Letterman - WTF Dude?
Unless we see some changes with David Letterman's show, we really might not watch any of its remaining two years. Last night Letterman got really chummy with Donald Rumsfeld, a former (and worthy) target of his and it was just more than we could handle. --- Banksy Oscars Update. --- Tonight's TV Junkie Must-Watch Plan and the listings.
What Happened to CBS2 Reporter Serene Branson Last Night?
It was the post-Grammys "flub" heard 'round the world--or at least the Twitterverse. Local CBS affiliate reporter Serene Branson was live outside the Staples Center introducing a segment on the music awards show's "highlights and backstage coverage," and within moments, her speech went awry.
While viewers of the telecast took to Twitter and Facebook to crack wise and "LOL" about Branson's garbled speech, what happened to the Emmy-nominated Los Angeles native is likely no laughing matter.
Watch the Grammys Live on the Web
The Grammys has worked things out so we can watch the awards live -- yes, even the pre-awards awards show -- online. The programming starts today with a livestream of the Social Media Rock Stars event at Conga Room and continues through Sunday night at youtube.com/thegrammys. Shira Lazar is co-hosting The Grammys on YouTube along with former MTV News cat John Norris. We caught up with Shira earlier this week to find out what we can look forward to.
Deadly Accident on 'NCIS' Set Shuts Down Production
A security guard working on the set of the CBS crime drama "NCIS" was killed yesterday when "the driver of a production company van blacked out and his vehicle slammed into a tent," according to LA Now. The tent was blocking the victim's view, and he was not able to move out of the way. Now the production has been halted as state investigators probe the incident.
Ladies and Gentlemen... It's Grammy Week!
The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards take place Sunday but before you start placing bets on whether Britney Spears will show up or who Kanye might diss, the Recording Academy has a week full of affiliated red carpet events, many open to the public, and some that may turn out to be too good for network TV.

A threatening letter containing white powder, "brought police, firefighters and the FBI to the CBS studios in the Fairfax District Friday night," reports KTLA. TV Junkie: 'Night of Too Many Stars'; CBS Renews All New Shows
Comedy Central's "Night of Too Many Stars" is your best bet for both comedy and charity tonight: great performances with live broadcasts of action for the West Coast fundraising tonight. | CBS is renewing all 5 of its new shows - what do you think about that? | Even Jon Stewart doesn't think that Rick Sanchez should have been fired for his comments about him.

TV Junkie: 5 New Shows The Networks Should Keep
Programs To Keep: After this weekend's news that NBC's "Outlaw" will have its remaining episodes moved to Saturday before it is removed from the air, we wanted to review the new programs that the networks should keep. Last month we made our opinion on "Outlaw" pretty clear and we're mildly surprised that NBC is pulling the plug this soon but if the ratings are that bad, then they're that bad.
TV Junkie: 21+ Premieres This Weekend; 'Dexter' & 'Bored To Death' Are Sunday's High Points
One last megablast of premieres this weekend with at least 21 series and season premieres over the next 3 days. We have our eyes on "Dexter" and "Bored To Death". Also, "Saturday Night Live" returns with Amy Poehler as host.
TV Junkie: A visit to the 'Rules of Engagement' set
Last Spring we were thrilled to speak with Patrick Warburton, star of CBS' "Rules of Engagement". As the show was shooting episodes for this season, we were invited to the set to see how the show gets put together and for a chance to speak with Warburton's co-stars Adhir Kalyan, Oliver Hudson, and Megyn Price.

TV Junkie: Day 1 of Television Critics Association Sessions
What we're learning at the Television Critics Association summer session: People are really polarized about AMC's "Rubicon" - you either like/hate it; "The Big Bang Theory" cast is pretty upbeat about their move to the Thursday at 8pm slot (see video with Simon Helberg below) despite not being consulted about the move according to show producer Chuck Lorre; CBS is banking a lot on the success of "Hawaii 5-O" and after viewing the pilot, we think it will be successful as it's pretty good action/humor to turn your brain off to.
TV Junkie: 'Damages' Season Finale; 'SNL' Griping
Somebody please confirm for us that they also thought the Ryan Phillippe/Ke$ha edition of "Saturday Night Live" was a bit of a chore to watch. Certainly, the Shake Weight DVD commercial was very funny (see embed at end of post), but the rest, other than some moments during Weekend Update, felt somewhat lacking. What did Phillippe contribute other than a pretty face - and doesn't Ke$ha's "Your Love Is My Drug" sound more than a little derivative of "Tik Tok"?
TV Junkie Interview: Patrick Warburton - 'Rules of Engagement'
Believe it or not, we've been watching Patrick Warburton on TV for over 20 years. From a bit part on the venerable series, "The Paper Chase", to Elaine Benes' perfect counterpoint, David Puddy, on "Seinfeld", to the ultracult fave "The Tick", Warburton has been a reliable source of comedy and entertainment in a wide range of shows and roles. Currently Warburton has been making us laugh as Jeff on CBS' "Rules of Engagement" which is in the midst of its fourth mid-season run on Monday's at 8:30pm. We had to admit that it's taken us a little while to warm up to the show but it now seems to be much more mature and dramatically improved than even just last season. Warbuton fills us in on what he's been doing and why your Monday's at 8:30pm should be devoted to "Rules of Engagement".
CBS Rumored to Be Selling AM Radio Station KFWB
CBS may have to heed cautions issued by the FCC and unload one of their LA radio stations in order to "comply with federal restrictions on the number of stations that can be owned in a single market," reports LA Observed. This puts their floundering KFWB 980 AM station at-risk of being sold, since it has not done well since its switch to "a largely conservative talk format" (aka "The new home of Dr. Laura") last year. Although CBS has fought this rule for a long time, it seems they cannot avoid it any longer. Speculation is that KFWB's new owners "would be foreign-language broadcasters."
TV Junkie: The Anti-Choice Bowl; New 'Modern Family' Tonight; Grammys Win Last Week
Sunday's Super Bowl looms in the minds of many who are already planning how many beer and snack runs they will have to make between now and gametime to be adequately provisioned. Also looming is the broadcast of the "Focus on the Family" anti-abortion ad during the game, featuring Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow and his mother. Huffington Post reveals that, while Focus on the Family had to lay off almost 300 people, they somehow managed to come up with the $2.5+ million to run the anti-abortion ad (not including production costs). On the flip side, CBS won't take any amount of money to run progressive pro-choice ads or gay-rights advocacy.
TV Junkie: LA's 'Southland' Axed; Uh Oh 'Hawaii Five-O'
From tsunami-watch to bad-acting-watch, news has it that Hawaii will be subjected to a CBS reworking of "Hawaii Five-O". Since "Fringe" co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are writing the pilot, we will give it at least that shot, but unless they have continued involvement, we don't have a lot of hopes for the show.
