The property at 1743 N. Cahuenga Boulevard [map], on a strip of street in Hollywood we often call the Cahuenga Corridor of late, is boarded up these days and undergoing yet another transformation. Over the past decade it's been the site of numerous trendy Hollywood hot spots, where paparazzi gather to ambush stars and heiresses with their flashes and coaxing into the wee hours. Paint it one color, call it White Lotus, give it a go as Ritual, renovate it and call it Halo. However, undergoing yet another makeover, the property has finally brought in the wrecking ball to take down some of the building's original structure, bringing to an end a piece of local history.

Ilan Hall's Food Cart Will Serve Bacon Wrapped Matzo Balls & More
If you couldn't get enough of the food truck trend, here's another one to add to your list; however, it will be gone before you know it. Ketel One is launching a canteen--really, it's a food cart towed by an Escalade--that will serve free late-night food by Top Chef's season two winner Ilan Hall (the guy who recently opened The Gorbals in downtown).
TRAFFIC ALERT: Water Main Rupture Over Cahuenga Pass
The Los Angeles Fire Department is reporting a "water main rupture with pavement damage" on West Cahuenga Blvd. in the community of Cahuenga Pass. The street is passable, however, traffic is expected to be rerouted once the Department of Water & Power arrives on scene. For now, though, the DWP is stuck in traffic, so that won't happen right away. There will likely be delays this afternoon going over the pass in either direction, prepare your patience or thank the gods you took the Red Line subway to work today.
Where to Watch: Patriots vs. Chargers
NFL franchise or not, Los Angeles is filled with football fanatics. Many of these fans have relocated to LA from all corners of the country, bringing with them their devotion for the home team of city they left behind. Rather than sitting in the confines of their living room and watching their boys battle it out on the gridiron, many transplants have found a sanctuary in the form of a sports bar dedicated to their hometown team.

This Week in Theatre: Dolly Parton Inspires Small Town Waitress
LA’s theatre scene is packed with good stuff this week: Dolly Parton serves as muse; a Korean family’s road trip goes wrong; and a bunch of people sing about chess at the Ford. So without further ado, here are LAist’s five theater picks for this week: Journey to Dollywood Jolene is a small-town waitress who idolizes obsesses over Dolly Parton. When a stranger’s car breaks down in town, her life, a rival co-worker’s, and their...
LAist Recommends: Pirates & Ninjas at Theatre of NOTE
Throughout this next month, start your Hollywood weekend night with this overly silly, but laugh-out-loud production of three short plays about two genres so lovable that Kenneth Branagh recently shot Shakespeare's As You Like It ninja style and it's inevitable a fourth in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is to come. Pirates and Ninjas, a production by this year's L.A. Weekly Award winner for Production of the Year (Marat/Sade), Blue House Theatre/Big Mama...

This Week in Theatre...
There's some great productions opening around town this weekend -- here's a sampling: Bad Seed Buzzworks Theater Company puts on a comic remake of Bad Seed, written by Maxwell Anderson in the 1950s and banned for its homosexual references and other Freudian theories. In-N-Out Solves The Drought Problem: Strikes Water!
Loyal LAist reader Evan Price caught this photo of a water main of some sort (we hope that's water) shooting out of the In-N-Out over by Universal City near the Vivid building today around 1:30pm. This is where a lesser blog would make some sort of childish sexual innuendo about liquids gushing in the vicinity of the world's largest porn company, working in a punchline of "Now that's what we call Animal Style", but...
A Different Kind of First Friday in Hollywood
You work a 9-80, freelance like us, or maybe you don't have job. Whatever the case is, Councilman Tom LaBonge has something for you tomorrow morning. So be alert and be ready to report to Fire Station 27 in Hollywood for the new First Fridays: "Growing up in Los Angeles during the Cold War, we practiced drills every first Friday each month as the city's air raid sirens went off. While the Cold War...
