Tonight HARD Summer, a massive multi-stage festival boasting a bevy of prominent electronic acts like Underworld, Chromeo, Crookers, Tiga, SebastiAn, the Bloody Beetroots and many more, will be taking place at the Forum. This year's Rock the Bells, which features the likes of Nas, Damian Marley, Ice Cube, The Roots, Common, Busta Rhymes, RZA, GZA, Raekwon, Slum Village, the Knux (LAist Interview) and many more, is set to take place at San Manuel Amphiteatre. Local producer/musician extraordinaire Jon Brion (LAist Interview, #2, Review) will be jamming at Largo at the Coronet with none other than Wilco guitarist Nels Cline (LAist Interview). And, lastly, Bergen-based experimental indie pop outfit Casiokids will be performing at Spaceland with the Wave Pictures and Slow Club in tow. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Getty Center to catch San Francisco-based psych-folk-pop act the Dodos for this week's edition of Saturdays Off the 405.

Tonight, as always, local multi-instrumentalist/producer extraordinaire Jon Brion (LAist Interview, #2, Review) will be jamming with friends at the Largo at the Coronet. Legendary San Diegan indie rockers the Black Heart Procession are poised to headline Spaceland. And, lastly, Missouri-based bluegrass-infused rock outfit Ha Ha Tonka will be performing at the Bootleg Theatre. But we strongly suggest heading over to Club 740 in Downtown to catch what will serve as the pre-Hard Fest party. LAist electronic favorites SebastiAn, Busy P and Destructo are all slated to perform.

       

It should come as no surprise that we here at LAist are huge fans of French DJ duo Justice. When they weren’t rocking the jam-packed Shrine for this year’s inaugural Hard Haunted Mansion, Gaspard and Xavier happened to be hanging out in Hollywood this past week promoting their latest documentary “A Cross the Universe” with help from their pals at Flux.net. Fellow Ed Banger Records artist Busy P was also on hand, celebrating a limited edition pair of Nikes branded with his namesake. The event was held at Nike Sportswear at the Montalbàn on Vine, and if you haven’t had a chance to check the space out, set apart some time and see where music, style, and culture clash. No wonder the LA Times is noting that our fair city is garnering a reputation as the epicenter of progressive dance music.

You shoulda seen the kids run down the street during the LA Weekly Detour Festival a few weeks back. You shoulda heard them scream when they appeared behind their wheels of steel. You shoulda seen em dance once the dirty streets of downtown. The kids behind tomorrow's Detour Festival are doing some interesting things to make your October street festie experience sweeter.

The story of Justice is almost as awesome as the music which they create. Two former graphic designers from France start playing with electronic music production. Their efforts produce much illness, which creates a ruckus in the dance music scene. They get a deal with what would soon be the hottest dance label out of the hottest scene in the world, a recent project of longtime manager and opening DJ for Daft Punk named Busy P.
