A small brush fire, covering an estimated 5-7 acres, is burning in the Lake View Terrace area, say the Los Angeles Fire Department. 65 firefighters from the LAFD, as well as Angeles National Forest ground personnel and the Los Angeles County Fire Department--with a helicopter and handcrew--are working on the blaze, which is being fanned by 5 mph breeze.

Two brush fires in two counties keep local firefighters on their feet today, with a small blaze in Malibu, and a larger one in Brea.
The Malibu fire broke out a bit before noon, according to L.A. Now, and was handled by Los Angeles County Fire, who had the blaze out by around 1:15 p.m. with two acres consumed and no structures threatened.
Road Closure in East LA Due to Brush Fire
The Los Angeles Fire Department has extinguished a ten-acre brush fire that threatened residential homes in East LA, according to a statement released by the LA County Sheriff's Department. Still, the city has closed the roads around the fire to make sure that there are no residual hot spots that could ignite it again.
'Fuel-Driven' Brush Fire Burns Above JPL In La Cañada-Flintridge

A brush fire in Riverside County that blazed through 45 acres of light grass is now contained, reports ABC7. The fire was spotted at 12:20 p.m. in the area of Pacific Avenue and Canal Street in Rubidoux and spread quickly causing concern, however no injuries or evacuations were reported.
Body Found After Grass Fire in Angeles National Forest
Firefighters dousing a small one-acre grass fire in the northern part of the Angeles National Forest this morning found a body among the ashes. The unidentified corpse was discovered around 7:30 a.m. about one mile east of the 5 freeway near Templin Highway. Sheriff's Deputies had very little information, but the Daily News points out that the body was burned beyond recognition: officials cannot tell if it was even a male or female.

First reported around 2:12 p.m., the fire is burning light to medium brush on a hillside across the 101 Freeway from the Performing Arts Center and city hall, according to the Ventura County Fire Department. Brush Fire Burning in Porter Ranch [Updated]
A fire is burning in the Porter Ranch area this afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. At 1:50 p.m. a half-acre brush fire north of the 19100 block of Sesnon Boulevard prompted officials to call for additional firefighters. By 2 p.m., the northwest-moving blaze had consumed to two to three acres of "light brush," said LAFD Spokesperson Erik Scott. The area burned two years ago in the a large 14,000 acre fire dubbed the Sesnon Fire. [Update, 2:40 p.m: The fire has grown to 15 acres. Update 2:43 p.m: Approximately 100 firefighters are on scene. Bobcat Runs Up Power Pole, Goes Aflame, Starts Brush Fire
Last week it was an Orange County golfer who sparked a fire last week when he swung, hitting a rock and sparking a 25-acre blaze. And yesterday it was a bobcat that ignited a five acre fire in the small town of Piru, east of Santa Clarita. “It looked like he was climbing up a pole to chase an owl or another bird,” Capt. Dan Preston told the Ventura County Star. "The animal apparently hit the power wires, caught on fire and fell to the ground, Preston said. That ignited the brush." The bobcat did not survive.
Brush Fire Burns Hillside in Hollywood
A small brush fire burned at least one quarter-acre in Hollywood tonight, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Spokesperson Brian Humprhey said the blaze that was reported at 9:11 p.m. ran uphill near 1836 N. Courtney Terrace, just north of Hollywood Boulevard and abut Nichols Canyon Road. 62 firefighters and three helicopters were assigned to the blaze, but the air attack was later canceled. Humphrey said brush clearance by the homeowner was "offering a distinct advantage." The fire was contained at 9:42 p.m.

Brush Fire Breaks Out in Griffith Park [Updated]
A one- to two-acre brush fire in Griffith Park is burning uphill near the 5 and 134 freeways, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. No structures are threatened or immediate evacuations have been called for. In a live TV interview, Captain Steve Ruda told KABC-7 that, from what he could see on TV, there appeared to be no winds (good news) and that firefighters "drill in that area all the time." The blaze is about one half mile from the L.A. Zoo. Update: The fire has been contained to less five acres.

Brush Fire Burning Near Calabasas City Hall
Firefighters are battling a second-alarm fire that broke out just before noon today, according to abc7. The fire began "on a vacant lot near the Calabasas City Hall at Las Virgenes Road near the 101 Freeway." Shortly after the fire began, it moved through 8 acres. While the blaze "is burning near several apartment complexes and subdivisions," at this time there are no reports of structures being threatened. Smoke from the fire is reportedly visible in the San Fernando Valley.
Crown Fire Continues to Burn in Northern L.A. County
Of the three fires ignited in northern Los Angeles County on Thursday afternoon, one remains a threat as it continues to grow. The Crown Fire has scorched some 8,000 acres between Acton and the Palmdale/Lancaster area. The fire was first reported at 2:22 p.m. and may have started in a vacant lot where "workers were apparently using a hammer to extract nails from tire rims," according to the LA Times.
Brush Fires Break Out in Agua Dulce, Lancaster
At least two brush fires are burning in northern Los Angeles County this afternoon. In Agua Dulce, near Acton, a blaze that broke out around 2 p.m. has burned through some 25 to 30 acres, according to KCAL-TV. At first it burned through grassy fields, but recently went into thicker brush, prompting 15- to 20-foot flame lengths. Two abandoned structures have burned, but no homes are currently threatened, reported the news broadcast. 200 firefighters are on scene. There is another fire burning near Lancaster in Fairmont. It has burned about 30 acres, according to the LA Times.
Brush Breaks Out in the Newhall Pass, Closes Northbound 5 Fwy
A brush fire that has broken out on the eastside of the 5 Freeway in the Newhall Pass has severely slowed traffic from Los Angeles to the Santa Clarita Valley. The five-acre fire eruprted this afternoon and is threatening a dozen homes in the Newhall area, according to CBS2. The California Highway Patrol hopes to open at least one lane on the northbound 5 Freeway soon, but recommends commuters take the 14 Freeway and avoid The Old Road. Update: The fire has grown to about 15 acres. Update #2: The fire is reportedly almost under control, but traffic is still hellish.
Brush Fire Threatens Structure in La Cañada-Flintridge
Firefighters are responding to a brush fire in La Cañada-Flintridge that is threatening at least one structure, according to cbs2.com. Personnel from Pasadena and Los Angeles City Fire departments are on the scene, which is reported by abc7 as being near 430 Gleneagles Place [map] which is situated in the Angeles National Forest south of the Hahamonga Watershed Park area. The quarter-acre fire was first reported around noon.
Lightning Sparks Brush Fires in Riverside County, Homes Burn
Two homes have reportedly burned after lightning sparked a brush fire in a Lake Elisnore neighborhood this afternoon. Evacuations were called for and one sheriff's deputy was injured when he rescued an elderly woman from a house. In other parts of Riverside County, a handful of small and large fires burned, some near the cities of Temecula and Sage. "We've got small fires and larger fires," a Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman told the LA Times. "We're trying to catch up. It's been hectic."

A brush fire that broke out this afternoon on the Camarillo Hills has scorched some 15 acres of land in the Camarillo Heights neighborhood of Ventura County.
Major Emergency Brush Fire Off 118 Fwy Near Rocky Peak Road
A brush fire that broke out this afternoon on the side of the 118 Freeway near Rocky Peak Road [map] has now been designated a major emergency brush fire, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The blaze began over 5 acres on the north side of the freeway, and with Ventura County Fire responding initially, now over 100 LAFD personnel are on scene and en route. The fire is moving northward, though there have been no injuries and no structures are threatened.
Brush Fire in Irvine Caused by Illegal Fireworks
A 75-acre brush fire in Irvine Regional Park was 100% contained this morning wit firefighters expecting full control later this evening. The Orange County Fire Authority was alerted to the blaze at 3:16 p.m. on the Fourth of July, prompting about 160 firefighters on the ground to respond in addition to helicopters, bulldozers and a fixed wing aircraft. No injuries or structure damage was reported. The cause was listed as illegal fireworks.
