Ousted KLOS DJ Jim Ladd, Denied Farewell Show, Will Say Goodbye on KFI
When news of veteran radio personality Jim Ladd losing his gig at KLOS broke, foremost from Ladd himself was that he didn't get to say goodbye. He will grace the airwaves Saturday from 4-7 p.m. on KFI, having been offered by the station manager to do the "goodbye" show he was not able to do at KLOS.
TV Junkie: Emmys Coverage Today
The Emmys are finally here and we'll be reporting them live today. I'll be on the red carpet where arrivals are expected to start at 2:30pm and conclude at 4:45pm. We'll be tweeting via @TheTVJunkie and we will attempt to Ustream from the red carpet at our channel depending on how pummeled the cellular network is in downtown LA. Lindsay William-Ross will be liveblogging the awards on LAist starting at 5pm with nuggets from myself in the press room. Later on the the evening we will be at the HBO after-party at the Pacific Design Center so follow my twitter feed for updates from there. HBO is expected to walk away with a couple dozen awards by the end of the Emmys so we expect spirits to be high. Tomorrow we will have a wrap up of the day with our own high-quality photos and video.
Vin Scully Re-upped to Call Dodger Games in 2010
Missing out on a little Dodger action after the heartbreaker of a post-season? Never fear, our trusty Dodgers have ensured that at least one constant will remain between last season and the next. The club announced that beloved Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully will return to the booth in Chavez Ravine to call Dodger games in 2010.

Tonight legendary Boston-bred alternative rock outfit the Pixies will be taking on a three-night stint at the Hollywood Palladium with local noise-infused rockers No Age (LAist Review, #2) in tow. Equally legendary Akron-based new wave act Devo are poised to conclude a two-night stint at the Henry Fonda Music Box. And, lastly, English electronic act Broadcast will be headlining the Troubadour with none other than Deerhunter front man Bradford James Cox's solo endeavor Atlas Sound. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Bootleg Theater to catch one of LAist's favorite local singer-songwriters Mia Doi Todd.

Local Media Gather to Honor SoCal Journalism Awardees
At a ceremony held last night at the Sheraton Universal hotel in Universal City, media luminaries gathered to fete local reporters, photographers, broadcasters, and even bloggers at the LA Press Club's 51st Annual Southern California Journalism Awards. Presenters included on screen personnel from NBC4 and ABC7, as well as WSJ and KCRW film critic Joe Morgenstern and columnist Gustavo Arellano, who handed honors to journos including David Evans of Bloomberg, Brad Greenberg of the Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles, Frank Stoltze of KPCC, Warren Olney of KCRW, Alex Pham of the Los Angeles Times, and more. Larry King Square Dedicated to Broadcast Icon
The corner of Sunset and Cahuenga in Hollywood was officially renamed Larry King Square by the City of Los Angeles yesterday. City Council President Eric Garcetti introduced the 74 year old broadcast journalist and talk show host after honoring him with accolades of his accomplishments in his field. This year marks the 50th anniversary of his professional journalism career.
