The Gathering, by the Irish writer Anne Enright, won the 2007 Man Booker Prize, one of the most prestigious awards for a writer who is “a citizen of the Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland.” Enright’s win was a long shot; although she’s published plenty, she isn’t one of the usual suspects, like Ian McEwen or J.M. Coetzee, who tend to pop up on the Booker shortlist regularly. The Booker Prize can make an author. Enright is now on a world tour that one suspects her publishers didn’t plan until she won.

They are the Go! Team. They are from Brighton, England. They sound like a group of cheerleaders dancing to Motown at the end of a tunnel while you're on acid listening to Sonic Youth.

Only one man in the electronica realm could entice me to endure the 378 miles from Los Angeles to San Francisco just for a measly DJ set. Simon Green, a.k.a. Bonobo, hails from Brighton (UK) and has released three full length albums of downtempo that have changed my musical world. With that said, when my friend asked me if I wanted an extra Bonobo ticket for a show in the city by the bay...

Recent major events for the Los Angeles Fire Department include a fire last night in North Hills contained to a 12 x 12 foot room where a twenty-something male in serious condition with smoke inhalation and an air ambulance rescue for a two-year-old boy who fell from a pony, dragging him near...

Whats the best and the worst thing about being Buck 65?
The best thing is getting to see the world and the worst thing is that it's pretty much impossible for me to have a girlfriend.

Where are your favorite cities to do shows, and where does LA rank?
LA ranks very highly actually. Vancouver is always amazing. Brighton is very good. Glasgow. Melbourne. Seattle. It would be hard to pick a number one. What happened with you and Anticon? Are you still tight with those homies?
I'm tighter with Anticon than most people realize. Those guys are still good friends and I'm sure there will be more work in the future. What non-hiphop influences do you draw upon?
My main non-hip hop influence is film. Especially French film. Musically I could throw around a few names like Woody Guthrie, Howlin' Wolf, Leonard Cohen, Erik Satie... And old-time music in general. How did you get the name Buck 65 anyways?
My dad gave me the name, but when I ask him why, he won't tell me...Which artists would you like to collaborate with (besides The obvious choice: Nelly Furtado)
I met Nelly a few times and thought she was sweet. I can think of literally hundreds of people I'd like to work with. I have a few very interesting collaborations in the works right now. But at the top of the wish list would probably be... hmmm... Zooey Deschanel. Can you help me get word to her on that?Sure, we'll tell her.
