Extra, Extra
On-Set: 'Star Trek: The Next Generation: A XXX Parody' (SFW), Part 2
In retrospect, LAist was either incredibly dedicated or insane (probably a little of both) to have been present for all four days of production on Sam Hain's Star Trek: The Next Generation: A XXX Parody. The first day, on the Enterprise-D bridge, ran over 20 hours, with at least one castmember falling asleep on-set until needed.
Happy Crossings! Local Bridges Deemed Generally Safe
If your commute includes a drive over one of the hundreds of bridges in Los Angeles, you can breathe a sigh of relief: Our bridges are pretty much safe! A report issued today by the city's Bureau of Engineering includes letter grades for all of our area bridges, and fortunately, none of them got an F, according to CBS2.
Beginning Tonight, Half of Sunset Blvd. Bridge over 405 Fwy to be Demolished
Starting tonight and lasting five more consecutive nights, crews will demolish one half of the Sunset Boulevard bridge over the 405 Freeway. The bridges are being retrofitted as part of the $1 billion northbound carpool lane project.
Glendale is Looking to Connect to Griffith Park via a Pedestrian Bridge
It's Los Angeles' biggest park, yet accessing it is not always easy, especially on its eastern side. For over three miles, there is zero pedestrian access to it, much of it thanks to being lined by the 5 and 134 Freeways. Now as part of their L.A. River plan surrounding the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk, the city of Glendale is looking to connect the narrows to the park.
Steps to Tear Down Sunset Boulevard Bridge over 405 Freeway Begin Friday
When you take your drive, walk or bike over 405 Freeway Sunset Boulevard bridge on Friday, it will be the last one before some traffic hell over the next 20 months begin. As part of Metro and Caltrans' project to bring a carpool lane to the Sepulveda Pass, three bridges will be taken down and reconstructed. Luckily, the artery won't be totally cut off as officials will work on the bridge in segments, allowing for traffic to continue during reconstruction.

Nearly Year's Worth Construction Coming to Fulton Avenue Bridge
As over a year's work on a Studio City bridge comes to a close with a controversial ending with some home owners claiming it damaged their homes, the city will head West a few miles to the Fulton Avenue Bridge in Sherman Oaks over the Los Angeles River. Beginning March 9 through the end of January next year, contractors will work to widen it per federal standards and bring it up to state seismic safety standards. They will try to minimize traffic effects, but, as they say in a neighborhood flyer, "a totally normal situation cannot prevail."
Weird Los Angeles: The Curse Of Suicide Bridge
Situated at Colorado Street, Pasadena, the 144-foot high Colorado Street Bridge is an impressive crossing in Southern California which rests on the original Route 66, its graceful structure a framework of exotic curves and seemingly artistic supports. Despite its image of romance and beauty, this bridge is known for a number of suicides which have occurred since 1913 when the bridge was completed.
Wake Up LA: Foxy's
In spite of the greasy mess plate of hungover love pictured above, Foxy's in Glendale is far from your last resort, still-drunk brekkie-plate of mornings soon to be forgotten.
Another Reason to Hate Local News...
I generally despise the local newscasts. I’ll tolerate a traffic report in the morning if I have to drive to work, and I’ll tune into the weather forecast on Channel 7’s 11 pm news because I like to watch Dallas Raines’ crouching routine against the Doppler 7000+. (And he wears these superb suits – I swear, no one can pull off a double-breasted electric blue better.) But this week, in light of the Minnesota...
1001 Reasons LA is Better than Florida
