A Boston Brawl in Los Angeles

A Boston Brawl in Los Angeles

There is no getting away from the beating the Kings endured against the Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins Saturday evening. The Kings looked like a battered bunch in the dressing room after the game. Although the final second empty netter goal by Brad Marchand made the game look more lopsided than it was at 4-2, if anything the fact the Kings never let the game got out of hand was a good sign despite the loss. more ›

Kings Lose In Boston for First Time Since 2002

Kings Lose In Boston for First Time Since 2002

Kings’ fans all across Twitter have been salivating for months, if not years, for this moment. They finally get a Kings’ game without Terry Murray behind the bench. Be careful what you wish for - you just might get it. The Kings certainly did get it: a beatdown at the hands of the Boston Bruins 3-0 in the Garden. more ›

Kings Put Together a Winning Streak

"That game in Phoenix as sloppy as it was at times just getting that win puts a lot of guys at ease, let's the guys relax a little bit,” defenseman Matt Greene said. And against goalie Tim Thomas who owns the best goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts in the NHL, the Kings decided to put in a full 60 minutes to gain the 2-0 shutout win against the Boston Bruins. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Trojans Lose Again in Corvallis

Oregon State Beavers defeat USC Trojans 36-7. A week after Oregon State got embarrassed at home against the awful Washington State, they decided to take out their frustrations on the visiting Trojans. They held the Trojans to only a touchdown while knocking quarterback Matt Barkley with a high ankle sprain out of the game at the end of the first half. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Historic Win for Lakers

LAst Night's Action: Historic Win for Lakers

LA Lakers defeat Dallas Mavericks 100-95. Well the Lakers didn’t heed my suggestion in resting players. Kobe, Ron Artest and Sasha Vujacic played. The starting front court each had a double-double with Andrew Bynum getting 22 points and 11 boards, Lamar Odom with 18 points and 14 rebounds and Ron Artest with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Farmar also came up big with 12 crucial points leading the bench while Kobe was sitting out most of the game. While Dirk Nowitzki got his 20,000th point, the 34th player in NBA history to do so, the Lakers became the first NBA franchise to get their 3,000th victory. While the Lakers did look to have the game in the bag, the Mavs managed to tie the game at 95-95 with 42 seconds left in the game. But Kobe, even ailing, made a clutch jumper from the right elbow as the shot clock was expiring. Despite playing some bad defense, the Lakers did manage to make the lead stick. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Can You Hand Me the Antacids?

LAst Night's Action: Can You Hand Me the Antacids?

#6 UCLA Bruins defeat #11 Virginia Commonwealth Rams 65-64. The game was awfully like UCLA's entire season. There were some good points when they took a double digit lead. There were bad points when they couldn't score a point for long stretches. But in the end it was defense that saved them. Down by one point with 11 seconds left to go, VCU inbounded the ball to Eric Maynor. Darren Collison was draped all over him and forced a short shot to preserve the Bruin victory. Up next for the Bruins is Villanova on Saturday on what can essentially be called home-court advantage for Nova. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Destroy Suns

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Destroy Suns

LA Lakers defeat Phoenix Suns 132-106. No tacos for the Lakers faithful, but they sure did get a show. Every Laker scored and six were in double figures. After scoring 70 points in the first half there was a brief scare that the Suns would come back. But the Lakers took care of that quickly and ran away with this laugher. With the Cleveland Cavaliers losing to the Houston Rockets, the Lakers now lead by two games in the loss column not counting the tie breaker. more ›

LAist Interviews Helene Elliott

LAist Interviews Helene Elliott

While a small number of hockey fans are still paying the electrolysis bill to remove "Mighty" from their bicep, many are just catching up with post-lockout rule changes. Around the Southland, people are scratching their heads over the possibility that the Anaheim Ducks may win the NHL crown. The Stanley Cup in Orange County? It almost sounds like a Chris Rock joke about the best golfer being black and the best rapper being white. Next,... more ›
