Tonight Louisville-based folk troubadour Will Oldham, a.k.a. Bonnie "Prince" Billy, will be closing out a two-night stint at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Mon Mon. Ontario-bred, Juno-nominated post-hardcore quintet Alexisonfire are poised to take on the Troubadour with none other than Sacramento's own Trash Talk. And, lastly, local alt-rockers Olin & the Moon (LAist Interview) will be performing at the Roxy in Hollyweird. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Echoplex to catch New York-based rock and roll outfit Les Savy Fav. LAist favorites, Long Beach-based indie rockers We Barbarians are slated to kick things off.

Tonight In Rock: Lily Allen, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Voxhaul Broadcast, Har Mar Superstar
Tonight British pop starlet Lily Allen will be performing to a sold-out crowd at the Wiltern with Seattle-based electro pop outfit Natalie's Shaved Head. Local indie rocker Voxhaul Broadcast are poised to grace the Echo with LA's own alt-rockers Olin & the Moon. And, lastly, Minnesotan singer-songwriter Har Mar Superstar, otherwise known as Sean Na Na, will be letting it all hang out at the Bootleg Theater. But we strongly suggest heading over to the El Rey Theatre to catch Louisville-based folk troubadour Will Oldham, a.k.a. Bonnie "Prince" Billy.
Tonight In Rock: My Bloody Valentine, Sigur Rós, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Gram Rabbit
First and foremost, we'd like to excuse our brief lapse into barbarism yesterday. We may or may not have initially forgotten to include the triumphant return of My Bloody Valentine, which commenced last night at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Tonight, the London-based progenitors of blaring shoegaze will be concluding their brief two-date stint with a sold-out show at the aforementioned venue. If you miss it, well, then you run the risk of being called—among other brilliantly devised hyperbole—an uncultured swine. For those lucky enough to snag tickets to McCabe's 50th Anniversary bash at Royce Hall, we applaud thee! You will be treated to a night filled with mind-blowingly dexterous guitar playing, including past masters Jackson Browne and Richard Thompson, as well as Drag City's own Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. And, lastly, Joshua Tree-based psych-pop act Gram Rabbit, who were hailed as best new LA band in 2005 at the LA Weekly Music Awards, will be headlining the House of Blues Sunset. But we suggest catching Icelandic quartet Sigur Rós at the Greek Theatre. They will be pumping out ethereal, otherworldly tunes in support of 2008's Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust.
Dosh - Wolves And Wishes | A Jam Session of Sundry Timbres
Some people are simply born to play music. To some extent, the language appears to be innate to them.
Such is the case with Minneapolis-bred Martin Dosh. On his fourth full-length to date, the multi-instrumentalist (machine)—perhaps best known for his significant role in shaping Andrew Bird's 2007 album, Armchair Apocrypha—churns out a stirring mishmash of experimentalism.
In Dosh's virtuosic world, notes are merely toys. He manipulates and arranges them to make it sound as though his band consists of an ensemble—when in actuality it essentially consists of him. Ultimately, however, Wolves And Wishes relies on a certain synergy between Dosh and a vast array of collaborators (Andrew Bird, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Fog, Odd Nosdam, Mike Lewis and Jeremy Ylvisaker).
Amoeba's Top 25: 10/4- 10/10: Beck, Dylan, Decemberists
Even though Beck is #1 this week, due in part to his headlining the LA Weekly Detour Festival, we present to you the video of Bob Dylan's 'When The Deal Goes Down', not just because it stars our girl Scarlett Johansson, but because Bob has somehow stayed in the Amoeba Top 25 ever since he debuted there early last month. Who says the kids don't have any taste? 1. Beck - Information 2. Killers...
Amoeba's Top 25: 9/26 - 10/3: Scissor Sisters, TV, Yo La
Babydaddy, Jake Shears, Ana Matronic and the rest of the Abba-esque Brit dance group Scissor Sisters are finding just as much success here in the states as they did early last month in the UK where they debuted at #1. The follow-up to 2004's eponymous freshman offerring did extremely well here in LA last week due to several factors: they headlined a sold-out show at the Shrine last Thursday, they appeared on Indie on...
