Bob Mould may not be a household name but the artists he influenced and inspired during his time fronting bands Husker Du and Sugar as well as a later solo career are quite well known.
See A Little Light: A Celebration of the Music and Legacy of Bob Mould @ Walt Disney Concert Hall, 11/21/11
Tonight In Rock: Bob Mould, Clinic, Tommy Santee Klaws, Lelia Broussard
Tonight Hüsker Dü front man, NY-based singer-songwriter Bob Mould will be headlining the Bootleg Theater with none other than LA-based indie rock troubadours Nico Stai. Local folk rock outfit Tommy Santee Klaws are poised to perform at HM 157 in support of their brand-new album, 2010's Rakes. And, lastly, pop rock songstress Lelia Broussard will be gracing the Hotel Café in support of her latest record, Masquerade. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Troubadour to catch Liverpool-bred post-punk act Clinic, who are touring in support of their sixth album—2010's Bubblegum. LAist favorites, San Franciscan psych-infused rock outfit the Fresh & Onlys are slated to kick things off.
Tonight In Rock: Raphael Saadiq, Bob Mould, Nico Stai, The Monolators
Tonight Hüsker Dü front man, NY-based singer-songwriter Bob Mould will be performing at the Hotel Café. LA-based indie rocker Nico Stai is poised to kick off a month-long residency at Spaceland. And, lastly, LAist favorites the Monolators (LAist Review, #2) will be gracing the Echo with the Hectors. But we strongly suggest heading over to the House of Blues Sunset to catch Oakland-bred retro-soul singer Raphael Saadiq.

As the year enters week two, organizations are programming newer music, that which was composed in the last century. This weekend, the Los Angeles Philharmonic began their Concrete Frequency series to an excellent start wth Aaron Copland's "The City" played to film and Edgard Varèse's "Amériques." After the concert, hip-hop violinist duo Paul Dateh and inka one (we interviewed Paul him this summer) played in the lobby by the cafe while Breakestra funked up the BP Hall.
