Tomorrow is Nat'l Bloody Mary Day. Where's the Best in LA?

December 1st* is National Bloody Mary Day, and while conventional wisdom dictates that the spicy tomato boozy beverage be enjoyed at leisure with brunch (or, as hair of the dog) this year a Wednesday it is. This raises an important question: Where can Angelenos go to get the best Bloody Mary in town? A slapdash @LAistFood poll told us that Cole's and Hungry Cat are great spots, while our own archives endorse Rush Street's Bloody Mary Bar. Help us find the ultimate Bloody Mary, and let us know your pick. (*The interwebs also put the celebration on January 1. We say that means 2x reasons to celebrate.) more ›

West Meets East: Brunch at Rockwell, VT

It's just a shade before noon on a Sunday, you're in Los Feliz, and you're in the mood for brunch. A couple of weeks ago we addressed this dilemma by heading up to the outdoorsy-meets-clubby environs of Rockwell, VT for a cocktail-soaked brunch that was just what we needed. more ›

Then the bartender meets you at the end of the bar. more ›

I am thankful every day that I am able to make a living being creative and doing something I love. (Except for when I’m on strike) I am thankful... more ›

Labor Day Camping on Catalina Island

Labor Day Camping on Catalina Island

So I have this pretty fun tradition (aside from Three Rivers in the holidays), of going camping at Two Harbors on Catalina Island every Labor Day Weekend. The tradition originally began as a Jugglers' Festival, oddly enough, of which I was only a part due to my friend and her husband who are amateur jugglers, and because they are friends with some fairly accomplished ones. There was a juggling volleyball game on one of... more ›
