Jack Pendarvis, author of the hilarious Your Body is Changing, which we reviewed last year, will be reading from his equally funny, Pendarvisly quirky new book Awesome tonight at 5pm @ Book Soup.

My Bloody Valentine, who is playing a string of sold out shows in the UK is going to play the Santa Monica Civic Center, and you can get tickets RIGHT NOW. as of me writing this they are not sold out.

With the Mayan Theater about half-full and slowly being filled with puffs of pot smoke, Portishead took the stage last night for their super-secret-show, and welcomed the crowd by announcing that it was a rehearsal for Coachella, and that this whole event is just so they can test their instruments.

It's been a long time since EARLY MAN did that sold out show at Spaceland in Feb. 06. But the early boys are back, and they expect Los Angeles to prove their worth in metal pride. That means come out, get wild, and show the boys why they need to visit LA more often. And if you haven't heard of EARLY MAN, let's just say they are a couple of shredders who hail from the school of Motörhead, Judas Priest, and Mercyful Fate.

Glass shards and hacked up pieces of plastic are all that remain of Redondo Beach's Pier's light poles which had to be cut down after one of the poles fell from todays strong winds. The poles are made of plastic, and have been aging in the sun for years. Once one pole fell, the city decided the rest had to come down NOW, before someone gets hurt, and more importantly before this potentially injured...

I showed up halfway through Honeycuts set, which was a bummer, because i have seen them play and they're show is fantastic. But i was there in time to hear my favorite, "Crowded Avenue" and the boys were killing it like always. I love those guys. I was really unfamiliar with Datarock.
