Revolver Magazine brought its third annual Golden God Award ceremony to an extremely sold-out Club Nokia this week, in a black-tie free affair that paid tribute to multiple generations of metal musicians, including the latest one.

Autopsy on Avenged Sevenfold Drummer Sullivan 'Inconclusive'
The autopsy conducted on Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan has been ruled "inconclusive" by the Orange County coroner's office, "and more tests will be performed to determine the cause of death," reports KTLA. Sullivan, 28, was the drummer for the band Avenged Sevenfold, and appears to have died of natural causes on Monday at his Huntington Beach home. Now the "coroner has ordered toxicology tests on Sullivan's body, the results of which could take several weeks." The OC-based band has been together for a decade, and rose to popularity in 2005. Fans have been using sites like Facebook and MySpace to express their grief over Sullivan's sudden death.
Week Around the -Ists
A sad week for LAist as they lose their trusted and amazing editor Tony Pierce to the LA Times, but what a blast his last week was. He shared his 25 Favorite CDs of 2007 and wrote a great review of just a good movie, No Country For Old Men. At UCLA, thousands of students celebrated the end of their quarter by running around campus in their undies (lots of photos in a two-part photo essay, one, two). That wasn't the only photo essay either: Joss Whedon/Mutant Enemy friends and Star Trek actors all joined in at the Writers Strike and KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas brought two nights of amazing bands that included Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park (Part I), Modest Mouse, Muse, Spoon and The Killers (Part II). Not only is L.A. a great music town, it has just been named the best city for bookish types. For those who are looking for something a little more active, American Gladiators are back (yes!) and if that's not enough, how about a Christmas gift of action and adventure?

Guns N' Roses to headline KROQ's Inland Invasion
Looks like Inland Invasion is going to be a quasi-metal onslaught, nearly as meaty as Ozzfest, but just like most things KROQ these days, a tad watered-down and lacking. Guns N' Roses are the headliners of the Sept 23rd festival, and they're lacking a good chunk of Guns N' Roses. Hell, you don't even get Buckethead any more. Irony abounds as bassist Tommy Stinson now plays with Guns -- his first band was... The...
Ozzfest Delighted the MySpace Crowd Despite Glitches
Ozzfest was held this weekend at the Hyundai out in the IE and at Coors down in SD. At the LA show there were two technical difficulties that caused power outtages in the sets of Avenged Sevenfold and Atreyu. After the jump see video from backstage right after the power went out with Avenged asking the filmmaker "is Avenged the next Iron Maiden?" -- referring to the infamous Ozzfest moment last year when Sharon Osbourne allegedly sabotaged the British metal gods.
