Tonight In Rock: Billy Corgan, Mew, Black Joe Lewis, Local Natives

Tonight Illinois-bred Smashing Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan will be playing to a sold-out crowd at the Hotel Café. Danish rockers Mew, who are slated to open for NIN later this week, are poised to perform at Zune LA. And, lastly, Austin's own retro soul singer-songwriter Black Joe Lewis (LAist Interview) will be performing at the Troubadour with half-American, half-Kenyan Benga rockers Extra Golden. But we strongly suggest heading over to Spaceland to catch LAist favorites Local Natives (LAist Interview), who will be closing out their month-long residency tonight. Hometown heroes the Henry Clay People (Review, #2, #3, #4), OC-based pop rock outfit Aushua and NY's own indie pop supergroup Fun—which features the Format front man Nate Ruess, Steel Train front man Jack Antonoff and former Anathallo multi-instrumentalist Andrew Dost—are all slated to perform as well. Yours truly will be DJing between bands. Come on out early!

Tonight Nashville-based country singer-songwriter Emmylou Harris will be performing at the Greek Theatre with Patty Griffin in tow. New Jersey-bred singer-songwriter Pete Yorn will be ringing in his latest disc, performing to a sold-out crowd at the Roxy. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Henry Fonda Music Box to catch local heavy rock outfit ISIS (LAist Interview).

Tonight In Rock: Van Morrison, Patrick Watson, Local Natives, The Devil Makes Three

Tonight legendary Belfast-bred singer-songwriter Van Morrison will be taking on his second night of a three-date stint at the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown. LAist favorites Local Natives (LAist Review) are poised to grace Spaceland with local indie rockers Voxhaul Broadcast, Aushua and Rumspringa (LAist Review, #2). And, lastly, Santa Cruz-based bluegrass outfit the Devil Makes Three will be headlining the Troubadour. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Hotel Café to catch Canadian singer-songwriter Patrick Watson, who will invariably dazzle you with his ethereal voice.

Tonight In Rock: Nightmares On Wax, DeVotchKa, Local Natives, Nite Jewel

Tonight legendary Leeds-based DJ Nightmares On Wax will be headlining the Echoplex. Denver's own gypsy rockers DeVotchKa are poised to play to a sold-out crowd at the Viper Room. LAist favorites Whispertown 2000 (LAist Interview, Review, #2) will be coming through Spaceland with Le Switch. Local instrumentalist Bobb Bruno is set to rock at the Echo. And, lastly, experimental electronic outfit Gang Gang Dance will be performing at the Smell in Downtown with LA-based Italo-disco act Nite Jewel. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Silver Lake Lounge to catch the opening night of Local Natives' month-long residency. The Outline, Lemon Sun and Aushua are slated to kick off the show.

Last month, local band Radars to the Sky (MySpace) had a month-long residency at The Echo (MySpace).

Two weeks ago, locals The Airborne Toxic Event (MySpace), declared one of three bands to watch by The LA Times' Kevin Bronson, performed the first of five shows for their January residency at Spaceland (MySpace) in Silver Lake.

We Barbarians, the Long Beach locals who recently played on tour with the Cold War Kids, begin their Silverlake Lounge Residency tonight. And we fully approve.
