Tonight In Rock: The Glitch Mob, Good Old War, Delorean, Soft Rocks

Tonight LA-based DJ collective the Glitch Mob (LAist Review) will be headlining the Music Box. Spanish electro pop outfit Delorean are poised to ring in their third studio album, 2010's Subiza, at the Echo with Echo Park-bred bilingual, genre-bending quartet Wait.Think.Fast.. And, lastly, Brighton-based DJ quartet Soft Rocks will be making their LA debut at Chop Suey/Far Bar in Little Tokyo. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Troubadour to catch the City of Brotherly Love's own folk-infused indie rockers Good Old War, who are touring in support of their second self-titled studio-album. LAist favorites, Vancouver-bred rock quartet Yukon Blonde and Oklahoma City-based singer-songwriter Audra Mae are slated to kick things off. more ›

Tonight In Rock: The Icarus Line, Bear Hands, Eagle & Talon, Senator And The New Republic

Tonight the unnecessarily abrasive Buddyhead-backed rock act known as the Icarus Line will be headlining the Roxy in Hollyweird. Local punk-infused all-girl duo Eagle & Talon are poised to warm up the stage at the Echo for Andrew Lynch, who will be ringing in his latest release. NY-based singer-songwriter Senator and the New Republic will be taking on Bootleg Theater with none other than Oklahoma City's own Audra Mae. But we strongly suggest heading over to Spaceland to catch Brooklyn-bred buzz band Bear Hands. more ›

Audra Mae @ Silverlake Lounge, 6/10/08

Local singer/songwriter Audra Mae played a highly impressive set Tuesday night at the Silver Lake Lounge. Simply put, the girl has heavenly pipes. The bio on the myspace describes her voice as a cross between Patsy Cline and Janis Joplin, which is no light praise, but it really is the best description. Having caught a good show a couple years ago, with just her and a guitar, it was fun to see the difference that time and a full band of excellent musicians can make. more ›

Audra Mae at Hotel Café 04/22/08

Tuesday nights in LA can be slow in the Spring; the energy of activation to get prettied up and brave the slick streets is much higher than that required to crack open a beer and settle on the couch. But when a heat wave hits with its concomitant restlessness, suddenly a weeknight outing is not only desired but sorely needed. It was in this fitful state I found myself making my way down a back alley off Cahuenga Blvd to check out songstress Audra Mae and finding a performance alight with the weather. more ›
