Friday's Freshman-Sophomore football game between Hollywood High School and West Adams Prep ended abruptly when player Spencer Juarez collapsed on the sidelines, with just two minutes of play left. The game was halted, and paramedics were called to transport the teen to Children's Hospital. Teammates say "Juarez had just taken a hit, and as he was jogging back to the sidelines, he fell over," but just what caused the student to collapse... more ›

Last Halloween, USC track star Bryshon Nellum, hailed as "the fastest kid in the world," was shot multiple times as he was heading to his vehicle. The athlete was taken to the hospital, where he underwent surgery on his legs. The LAPD have just announced their Southwest Gang detectives have arrested Travon Reed, 21, and Horashio Kimbrough, 21, in connection with the shooting, according to an email press release. Both Reed and Kimbrough were charged with one count of attempted murder with a gun and gang allegations. Bail for Reed was set at $2 million and Kimbrough is being held without bail. more ›

37-year-old "Mad Dog" Mike Bell was found dead over the weekend inside a Costa Mesa rehab home called Ramona House. The one-time professional wrestler whose life was the subject of brother Chris' documentary Bigger, Stronger, Faster, "was reportedly 60 days clean when his body was discovered by a roommate who had gone out to get something to eat," according to the OC Register. They add that Bell's brother "said the cause of his brother's death was still unknown but it could be attributed to the 'rough life' Mike Bell lived." more ›
