It was a much-anticipated debut that was captured by friends and fans mid-afternoon today at Amelia Posada and Erika Nakamura, aka Lindy & Grundy, opened the doors to their butcher shop on Fairfax Avenue.

Breaking tradition with the mall staples of ubiquitous big-brand food vendors, Santa Monica Place's The Market will feature an "artisanal food experience" showcasing local vendors. Today The Market's opening date, May 20th, was officially announced.
Attention Holiday Shoppers: Artisanal L.A. Popping Up Again
For those who missed the inaugural Artisanal L.A. event, or who can't wait to buy and learn more from dozens of local foodmakers and craftsfolk, the pop-up will be back December 11-12 for a holiday season shopping session. It's too early to say who the participants will be, but you can likely count on baked goodies, sweet treats, garden savvy, and other delectable edibles with an artisanal slant. Just Opened: Hollywood's Mercantile
There's a new multi-faceted food destination now open in Hollywood. The Mercantile comes from the business mind of relocated New Yorker George Abou-Daoud (Bowery, Mission Cantina and Delancey), who describes the restaurant as "equal parts gourmet marketplace, daytime café and nighttime wine bar." In the kitchen is Chef Kris Morningstar, most recently of DTLA's Casa, who helped the modern Mexican eatery get on its feet before announcing an amicable split calculated to prep him for his new gig in Hollywood.
