Three men were caught on surveillance tape about 8:30 p.m. the day after Christmas robbing a South LA liquor store in the 6000 block of S. Avalon Blvd. Two of the three were armed with semi-automatic handguns and demanded money and merchandise before fleeing in grey four-door compact car driven by a fourth suspect. Police believe the threesome may have committed other robberies in the area and the suspects are described as African-American men in their early 20s -- 6' tall and 260 lbs, 6' tall and 170 lbs, and 5' 8" and 160 lbs. Not that an 18-year-old male suspect who allegedly tried to rob two on-duty undercover officers in South LA last night should have known that they were cops. But really, crime can be a lottery. "The two officers each fired multiple rounds striking the suspect. The officers were not injured," an LAPD statement reads. "The suspect was transported by ambulance to the California Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. His condition is described as serious but stable."
