Fall is in full swing, and so is apple season! Here in Southern California, we're lucky enough to have apple orchards in some of the higher elevation mountains surrounding the city, one of which is Oak Glen, above Yucaipa. During apple season, the orchards are open 7 days a week, though self-picking is only available on the weekends and tapers down as the season wanes.

Why, Siri, Why?! Is a New Website (But There's Also a Big iPhone 4S Security Issue)
From the people that brought you the pee-in-your-pants funny Damn You, Autocorrect site for all those iPhone texting hijinks comes the new site Why, Siri, Why?! which lets users submit screengrabs showing the goofy things the updated Apple iPhone 4S voice-activated "assistant" says. Not so fun, however, is word that employing Siri to make a call can override a vital security feature many people use on their iPhones.
iSwoon for iPhone 4S, Thanks to Apple Store at 3rd Street Promenade
My one stop was at the Apple store located along Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. I'd read tweets claiming the store promised they had ordered ample supplies to last the entire day and that there were only 80 people in line. Only 80 people. I arrived at the store at 10:45am, my heart dropping when I noticed the line had vanished. "The line's right over there," said a helpful Apple employee, pointing me towards a feasible line of cattle hopeful consumers.

Apple's value has skyrocketed more than 300 percent in the past couple years owing much to growing iPhone sales and the success of the iPad. But Apple's future success rides not just on product but on content -- specifically audio and video downloads and paid streaming content.
Read Those Apple iTunes Agreements, or Beware the Business Casual G-Men
In which the everyday folly of saying "I agree" to all those Apple iTunes user agreements without reading the fine print becomes actual folly via "South Park." Your video lunch today might be funnier for Android or BlackBerry uses...unless you are an Apple user with a sense of humor about possibly being tracked down by "Business Casual G-Men."

Crooks Targeting Manhattan Beach Apple Store Shoppers
A series of vehicle burglaries in the Manhattan Beach area recently have prompted local authorities to caution shoppers at the Apple Store at the Manhattan Beach Village Mall to not leave their purchases in their vehicles after leaving the store. Since September police have determined that the burglars have watched customers exiting the store with new computers and then seized the opportunity to break in to the vehicles once drivers have left the Mall and driven to other locations and left the computer unattended in the parked car. The Manhattan Beach PD is working on solving these crimes, and are reminding shoppers not to leave pricey goods unattended in cars, no matter how far from the place of purchase you go or if the vehicle is locked.
