Through 10 a.m. this morning, here are the rain and snow totals in inches from the National Weather Service.

Although it's a brief warning, the overall weather picture remains grim here in the greater Los Angeles area. We're under warnings and advisories galore; the flood advisory is still up for Ventura and LA Counties, snow is expected in the "lower elevations of Santa Barbara County as well as the Foothills of the Antelope Valley," the wind advisory is in effect until tomorrow night, and multiple roads in and out of town are closed.

After questioning 1200 Los Angeles County residents in a survey, Metro might be confident it could get the two-thirds stamp of approval from voters if such a measure went to the ballot. If passed, it could generate $4.5 billion within 6 1/2 years, according to an investigation by the Daily News.

At the end of each month LAist attempts to review some of the music and musicians that were covered over that four week period. Below is a mix of just some of the month's musical moments:

Mi Ami (ex-members of Black Eyes from SF) and Bipolar Bear. Since we love classical minimalism, we thought to ask the band a few questions before tonight's show:

About the above picture: The Rawking Refuses To Stop!, a blog of all things Los Angeles pop culture and MP3, shares with us their best concert photos of 2007. Above, they sneak out of LA to New York to see Les Savy Fav at the Bowery Ballroom (we'll just say they did the same thing when they came here). Don't forget -- you still have today and tomorrow to enter our Rufus Wainwright/Belinda Carlisle...

One thing that separates LA from the rest of the world are our televised high-speed vehicle pursuits.

Despite the risk of building a home, selling a home and moving into a home in a high risk fire zone, companies, homeowners and governments still find it acceptable finds the LA Times today. "This is a land rush into danger," said Roger Kennedy, former director of the National Park Service and author of a recent book on wildfires. "A land rush by people who do not understand what they are doing and who...

North County just can't catch a break lately: another fatal freeway pileup near Antelope Valley today, this one involving eight vehicles and at least one fatality. The freeway has been closed in both directions. Things Not Worth Beating Someone With a Hammer For: six dollars? A group of males accosted and hammered a man in Canoga Park last night; then they blew the cash on penny candy and stamps. Not really, but six bucks??...

The devil is in the details. This astute and well-named handle said it best:The Antelope Valley sits in the western Mojave Desert in north Los Angeles County. The Palmdale Water District threatened a mandatory 30% reduction in water use in a special meeting the last week of August. In spite of drought conditions, in the Mojave Desert, government agencies have an Oasis of grass planted on their property. Had it not been raining, the...

In order to cover the costs of their $600-million-plus priest abuse settlement, the Los Angeles Archdiocese is selling off its Santa Barbara convent, leaving the nuns with no place left to go. Aw, how cute, the 818 thinks it's just like the 310! The San Fernando Valley may be getting a 747 area code overlay in the very near future. Are we seeing a theme here yet? A thirteen-year-old boy was killed by an...

Dear Metrolink: I've been a daily, faithful rider on the Antelope Valley line for nearly two years now. I love me the public transportation. It saves me the grief that I know all those dead-stopped drivers along the 5 freeway are going through each morning. But here's the deal. You raised my train fare this month. The monthly cost for my pass from Newhall to Union Station went from $187.50 to $193.25. Fortunately, my...

43 people suspected of being members of the Eastside Pain Bloods gang were arrested by more than 400 police officers in predawn raids yesterday. More staff cuts coming at the Daily News: zone coverage of Santa Clarita and the Antelope Valley to be eliminated. Yikes! How much did Tony spend to help get his three candidates onto the school board? The L.A. City Council has just approved a ban on smoking in city parks....

An Antelope Valley resident once told me that the slogan of Palmdale was "Why throw it in the trash when you can throw it in the front yard?" It was so rude. I loved it. Palmdale and Lancaster always feels worlds away. Many of the thoroughfares have names like Avenue R-12 or Avenue P-8. Only a select few are lucky enough to live on Avenue Q (who doesn't like puppets singing about STDs and...

A collection of tunes from several of the bands/musicians reviewed or highlighted by LAist staffers during the month of May 2007. This isn't a comprehensive compilation of everyone mentioned on LAist in May but it's a pretty good sampler. LAist Mix May 2007: Patti Smith - Smells Like Teen Spirit Aloe Blacc - Arrive Dazz Band - Let It Whip Bright Eyes - Four Winds Bebel Gilberto - Tranquilo Antelope - Reflector Dinosaur Jr. -...

LAist gets and listens to a Lot of music. You can see the bands we like in the concerts that we review, the Tonight in Rock listings that we compile, and in the cds that we review. But we realize that we listen to way more music than we review so we figured we make a list once a week letting you know what we're into.

Can't afford that $2.2 million house you wanted in Laguna Niguel? You can get the same exact model for a half million in AV (that's Antelope Valley). Hello Poppy Festival and street names with no creativity!

Antelope Valley residents were warned to not speed yesterday, yet 130 drivers still got tickets. Maybe next time, they will read the newspaper before they go to work.

The South Central Farmers get a one-up in the fight to get their farm back. "Judge Helen I. Bendix ruled that developer Ralph Horowitz could not exclude evidence about the deal he made with the city of Los Angeles in 2003... Had Bendix ruled in Horowitz's favor during Wednesday's pre-trial arguments, the farmers' case would have died before it was allowed to go to trial, said attorney Dan Stormer."

There are now 9 reported dead. According to Sherrif Lee Baca, the derailment happened because of a car deliberately put on the tracks. One train hit the car and jumped off the tracks hitting a parked Pacific Freight Train and an oncoming metrolink train heading in the opposite direction.

Back in April, things looked promising for the proposed 555-acre, mixed-use development known as Las Lomas when a judge blocked the City of Santa Clarita’s attempt to annex unincorporated land in its effort to thwart the controversial development.

As if you didn't already know that.

Signs of summer are busting out all over, as firefighters do battle with brushfires throughout the region. The largest fire is a 5,000 acre blaze located in Verbenia, west of Palm Springs. According to KNBC, it's currently 25% contained. Let's all wish the best for these awesome public servants as they work against the flames and the effects of heat exhaustion.
