Although some say Scientologists don't believe in Jesus, the controversial church had members singing Christmas carols on Hollywood Blvd. last Friday night. Additionally, that display on Hollywood Blvd. is L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland. Here's some of what was seen Friday night when anti-Scientology group Anonymous showed up:

The LAPD will announce a new way to make anonymous tips about crime via text message and e-mails tomorrow afternoon in a press conference. From their release:
The anonymous Freewayblogger is coming back to Los Angeles on Thursday while on her West Coast tour that begins today in San Diego and ends in Portland on the 22nd.
Last year in May, Edith Isabel Rodriguez died at Martin Luther King Jr.-Harbor Hospital. Her death became national headlines because Rodriguez was dying (literally throwing up blood on the floor) in the waiting room as nurses and other hospital staff continued to ignore her as they walked by. Rodriguez's husband, Jose Prado, and another person in the waiting room called 911 explaining that she was in need of help. But dispatchers refused saying she was already a hospital.
Taking a cue from the themed Writers Strikes (in order to keep the protests fresh and less hackneyed), Anonymous once again took to the streets to protest Scientology this weekend, pirate style (and this time with children in tow). Here's some of what happened in Hollywood on Saturday...
On Saturday May 10th, members of Anonymous took to the streets all over the world in protest of Scientology. Here in Los Angeles, Anonymous staged their gathering at 6331 Hollywood Boulevard at one of the many Scientology buildings in the city.

As Anonymous launches their third big protest around the world, the local group of "legion" begin at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon in Hollywood near the Metro Hollywood/Vine Red Line Station.
LAist Photographer Tom Andrews took to the streets to see what was up with Anonymous. Here is what he saw:

I have examined a large file of this picture, and only the blurred-out address appears to be photoshopped. The rest of the poster looks legit. -Tasha
A new website posted this video documenting the alleged actions and threats taken by Anonymous against the Church of Scientology. The site, created two weeks ago, does not explicitly state an affiliation with the CoS but it documents what it alleges are "Religious Hate Crimes and Terrorism Directed at Church of Scientology."
-->Today was the second worldwide Anonymous protest organized via March15.org, the Anonymous website dedicated to the founder's birthday, two days prior. A few hundred protestors hit Hollywood Blvd. at L. Ron Hubbard Way in the East Hollywood area. The Scientologist center had a film permit and they were doing some kind of filming. Also their TV billboard was playing inspirational-like videos with Disney-esque music, which provided a creepy soundtrack to the visuals of people protesting in masks.
Update, 3/15/08: Here's a video of the LAPD at the Anonymous event and a photo essay of all the craziness. Also, here's a video from the Anti-War March.
If you're walking the streets of Hollywood this Saturday, be prepared to march or take in the sights -- two protests are planned and both could be crazy.
Scientology centers around the world were targeted by a mass protest yesterday organized by an anonymous group called, simply enough, "Anonymous". Members refer to themselves only as "Anon" or "Legion". Protests were reported in Boston, Toronto, Europe and Australia.
For background and a photo essay on this protest, see our story from yesterday.
The global day of action was initially announced last month after a video attributed to "Anonymous" coincided with an online effort that managed to temporarily knock out Internet servers belonging to the Church of Scientology.
- As was reported today on LAist, the writer's strike, which cost the city about $1 billion, is nearly over. We all know how involved Mayor V has been nudging the two sides back together. Oh, wait. But at least he weighed in today: "This agreement is a blockbuster for the Los Angeles economy. It will put thousands of writers, set designers, caterers, and behind-the-scenes workers back on the job this week." Blockbuster! HA!
- Election central: Barack Obama added a Grammy to his momentous weekend and Hillary Clinton sacked her campaign manager today. Obama won the award for his oratorically smooth stylins, reading Audacity of Hope and Clinton announced today that she replaced her campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle with longtime aide Maggie Williams in what has had to be a long weekend for beset by four resounding primary and caucus wins by Obama in Washington, Maine, Louisiana and Nebraska.
- The rest of the Grammy winners can be found here and you'll be happy to know that Jimmy Sturr And His Orchestra took the prize for best polka album.
- Is Scientology a cult? Blogging.la found a few Anonymous people who might think so at a demonstration outside the L. Ron Hubbard center on Sunset today.
- A week after a plane crashed into the mountains near Banning Pass, rescuers reported Sunday that they have found the plane more than 11 miles from the site where it was originally reported missing. The fate of all four people on the plane is still unknown.
- Six kids and three adults from southern California fell ill today in D.C., where the group of students from West Covina and their chaperone's were visiting the White House. Insert [Bush Makes Me Sick, Too] joke here.
- From the turnabout is fair play department: A former Internal Revenue Service officer working as a tax preparer in Inglewood has been arrested in connection with an alleged scheme to defraud the government by filing false tax returns. How big of an economic stimulus check do you think he's getting?
Rarely does anything good come from the keyboard of an anonymous negative commentor. Despite the fact that one could hide from the bushes and snipe at people from the bushes doesn't mean that one should. Likewise, when commentors refuse to put their real name next to their criticism, the validity of the statement should be seriously questioned, as should its motives.
