More congestion insanity: the L.A. City Council has just approved a rethink in planning rules to allow more downtown developments. Tom Hanks, his wife Rita Wilson and Nia Vardalos have filed suit in Los Angeles alleging they weren't paid their full percentage "share of net profits" for the hit "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." 10 individuals and businesses face federal charges of accidentally starting large wildfires. Officials at Angel Stadium have pledged to work......

Angels fans can be quite snooty. They find Dodger Stadium to be dirty and violent. Thanks to the Gwendolyn Driscoll of the Orange County Register, I can now refute one of those claims. In the last 2 1/2 years Orange County officials found 118 vermin violations at stadium kiosks and restaurants. Of those reports, 33 represent "major" violdations, in which "rodent activity" was observed by health inspectors in a "critical area" of 18 stadium......

Braves 4, Dodgers 0 - Atlanta jumped out to an early lead, which is something you don't want to give John Smoltz. The starter-turned-closer-turned-starter hurled seven shutout innings just ten days ahead of his 40th birthday. The Jones boys (Andruw and Chipper) didn't produce a hit, but combined for three walks and scored three runs. The Dodgers had ten base runners and even juiced the bases in the fourth with nobody out. Smoltz still held......

The Dodgers weren't exactly limping going into Angel Stadium; after all, getting swept on the road isn't the most noteworthy stumble, and besides, they'd swept the lowly Pirates and salvaged the last game of the Seattle series just before that. Despite losing the division lead to San Diego, it wasn't like they were hopelessly out of first; even the division-trailing Diamondbacks were only four and a half games out, and nobody had really made......

Americans rose to the occasion when the Asian tsunami hit in December. Now it's time to help out a little closer to home. A few local media outlets have set up emergency relief centers where Los Angelenos can drop off check, cash or credit card donations. Here are a few: TalkRadio 790 KABC, 95.5 KLOS and ESPN Radio 710, ABC 7 and The Walt Disney Company are hosting American Red Cross events at the......

Just as Pasadena was arguing its environmental impact report for a renovated Rose Bowl, Anaheim's football stadium proposal suddenly got contentious. LAist thinks the Rose Bowl renovation plan is a good one for the city of Pasadena. It's important to remember Pasadena is not debating building a football stadium. The Rose Bowl is there and not going anywhere. The question is how to ensure the economic viability of a facility that loses $2 million......

In this week’s issue of Sports Illustrated, (subscription required) Chris Ballard takes on the Herculean task of ranking the Top 25 best sports bars in the land. It’s a tough job, doubtlessly requiring countless hours of exhaustive research about tedious, mundane minutiae. Finally, after such thankless work, Mr. Ballard emerged from his dimly lit basement office in his mother’s house and delivered his own priceless Magna Carta de Saloon. Snaring the top spot is......

The future of LA football took a dramatic turn yesterday, as it was learned that the NFL contacted Anaheim about potentially building a stadium. The proposed facility would be placed right by Angel Stadium and be paid for by the NFL or the incoming pro team. This reportedly is all part of the proposed "Platinum Triangle" which is some kind of attempt at creating a downtown Anaheim. (Don't ask us how that affects Downtown......
