Sorry I missed y'all yesterday but we're back. With just a few days before Xmas you may still have a hankering for your own personal favorite holiday shows and movies. Next week watch for a rant from me about this season's poor offerings. In a way, it's a good thing that there's been a hiatus in writing and producing new content, perhaps the networks have had more time to think about what they put on the TV for us to consume.

What are the chances this has to do with the most over-hyped flower holiday of the year? Rather high, we'd guess.

Zadie Smith, author of , is on a roll this September, and it's bringing her back to SoCal. Not only is she going to be in Los Angeles for An Evening with Zadie Smith at 826 LA on October 2nd (details coming to you as soon as we get them), not only is her third book, On Beauty, coming out September 13th, she's on the Booker Prize shortlist. She's unlikely to win - Julian Barnes is leading the field with the bookies - but the recognition is well deserved.

LAist was surprised and intrigued to find out that they're all Honorary Committee Members for the Kerry/Edwards Campaign and probably have, really, no involvement whatsoever in the Saturday, October 2nd event "An Evening with Kerry/Edwards" featuring musical artists such as the Black Eyed Peas.

Pay a visit to MOCA today, as the place will be swarming with activity. At 3:00 PM, see a screening of Two Generators, Rodney Graham's 1984 piece "documenting the night-time illumination of a river" at MOCA at California Plaza. The screening is free with musuem admission.

For fans of , no thanks to the over-the-top humor of the late Paul Lynde, you may be overjoyed to know that his spirit has been revived in the new show "An Evening with Paul Lynde." Starring and co-written by Michael Airington, the musical comedy will have you questioning yourself as to whether or not the man really passed away or pulled another "Uncle Arthur" on us all. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at Ultra Suede in West Hollywood. Tickets can be purchased at Tix.com.
