Talking about the Impact of Dance with Tabitha and Napoleon D'umo of So You Think You Can Dance

Working as choreographers for So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD), America's Best Dance Crew (ABDC), and countless other projects keeps Tabitha and Napoleon D'umo extremely busy. Their ongoing involvement with Monsters of Hip Hop and other dance organizations adds to their hectic schedule of making appearances and teaching workshops throughout the world.This married couple is known for a their lyrical hip hop style that tells a story.

Interview: The Guys Behind Kallusive's Hip-Hop Line & Clothing Seen on MTV

Last year backstage at MTV's America's Best Dance Crew, LAist met Alex Cotraviwat, creator of the clothing line Kallusive. That night one crew, A.S.I.I.D. was competing in Kallusive shirts. Alex hoped that his graphic designs would help give them an edge on the competition. In a short time, Kallusive has gone from the dream of two childhood friends, to a thriving business. They offer an exclusive series of t-shirts available at Metropark and from the shop on their own site. The company also has formed close ties with the hip-hop community including the amazing Kaba Modern. Kallusive has also formed their own dance crew and are one the sponsors of the annual VIBE hip-hop dance dance competition at the UCI Bren Center.

     

Last night on America's Best Dance Crew, Super Cr3w came out on top. Super Cr3w celebrated their big win with a crush of fans and received their trophy. They secured a spot on the ABDC Tour with Season 1 winners JabbaWockeeZ. LAist asked Executive Producers Howard and Karen Schwartz and choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon about the upcoming tour. Everyone's support for the dancers and enthusiasm for the tour filled the studio with enough positive energy to fill a stadium.

     

Tonight on America's Best Dance Crew (MTV, 10 p.m.), the final two crews perform their final three challenges. Super Cr3w continue to battle and represent the West Coast. SoReal Cru represent the South from Houston, Texas. Tonight they'll take on dances from around the world, create their own dance craze, and fight for enough votes to win (The ABDC Tour begins on September 18)

Tonight on MTV's America's Best Dance Crew, three crews will battle it out with a series of 80's themed performances. Local favorite Fanny Pak continues to amaze everyone with their creative and funky style. LAist went backstage to talk to team leader and choreographer, Matt Cady. We asked Matt about putting together Fanny Pak, their quirky style, and some of his favorite things from the 80's.
