Barry Bonds was in federal court today to face the music ... sort of. Southern California's least favorite son pleaded not guilty to four counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice. After showing off his latest threads (the wire reports had little else to say so they raved about his "impeccably tailored" look), Bonds walked back out a free man. He was essentially released on his own recognizances, but would owe Uncle...

The National League has not won an All-Star Game since 1996. But, as a Dodger fan, there were plenty of reasons to smile.

Between the competitive NL West, the blazin’ Brewers, and the surging Indians, there are more compelling stories out there than what A-Rod’s bitter wife wore to a game and what the Bronx Bums aren’t doing.

With the Dodgers playing a rather boring series at the Washington Nationals, it’s time to take care of some housecleaning. All Star Voting Yesterday, Major League Baseball released the preliminary results of the first period of fan voting for the All Star Game. The fan votes will determine which position players start the game. According to the results, My Boyfriend is running a distant fourth to the fiery whoring gambler Paul Lo Duca (former...

Through complete happenstance, the Angels and Dodgers both ended up at
the All-Star break two games behind their respective division
leaders. Both are flawed teams, yet both play in flawed divisions in
which no team is truly out of the chase, but none has established
itself as the one to beat, either. In the American League West,
got something to kvetch about:

This was to be a breather. The Dodgers came off a series sweep at the hands of the A's, and then got to face one of the teams making burbling noises in the sub-.500 cellar of a surprisingly weak AL West. Instead, they found themselves treated every bit as roughly, experiencing first-hand something the Red Sox recently discovered: there's about a ten-win difference between the quality of the best teams in the American League versus that in the Senior Circuit. That is to say, put an 85-win AL team into the NL and all of a sudden you've got a 95-win division champion. In this series, the Dodgers made that difference immediately apparent.

Lost amidst the celebration of Kobe's hoop heroics and the Clippers getting a playoff series win, the Angels and Dodgers have been dropping games, both sporting a 12-14 record after getting beat Monday by the A's and Diamondbacks respectively.

The Angels capped off a dramatic series victory over their northern rivals thanks to an offense that EXPLODED for three runs. While the win was important, the Angels still have serious reason to be concerned.

He may no longer be a Laker, but Derek Fisher's shot with 0.4 seconds left against San Antonio was the best thing to happen to LA sports fans all year. With every Laker annoying the hell out of the city of LA, from Shaq to Kobe to Malone to the Glove to Phil to Jerry Buss to Jeannie Buss, it was always nice to know that D-Fish was around. Sure, he couldn't defend to save his life. And he probably did take too many threes. But Derek Fisher was a consummate professional who was finally rewarded for years of hard work and humility.

Guerrero is as fun to watch as any player in baseball. He plays the game like a little kid, only really freakin' well. It doesn't matter whether the ball is thrown at his head, a foot outside, or bounce in the dirt. Vlad can hit it. If he'd grown up in England, he'd be the world's best cricket player.
