The father of 13-year-old Miranda Hemphill of Victorville has turned to the internet to appeal to his missing daughter. An Amber Alert was issued overnight for the missing teen, who was last seen Sunday, and is thought to be with 22-year-old Ivan Lopez of Lennox, according to LA Now. "Lopez is wanted on a 2009 felony warrant for a sex crime against a minor." Hemphill's father notes in the video that his daughter met Lopez online. more ›

We saw lots of motorists over the weekend slowing down to read the information screens positioned on our freeways. This was no Amber Alert, however, this was a new initiative by the California Office of Traffic Safety to get more people to fasten their seat belts. The signs read "Click It or Ticket. Buckle Up." The usually leisurely Memorial Day Weekend traffic around the city felt more hazardous as free-flowing lanes would unexpectedly feature brake lights as people read and then moved on. more ›
